Ran a natural gas line for the new (to me) dryer. Replaced the old POS electric that was dying and rattling. Also ran a new hard vent line since I had flex line before that just sucked and isn't code just because I'm using a gas dryer.

Bought that on sale, has a compressor that holds like 100psi (but goes down quick) and a service light and outlet. Works great for car and bike tires.

did a dog run out from my back door to the tree this weekend, as well as getting the toilet fixed after fucking around with it forever. These American Standards have a weird flapper system that broke. Also got a nice flush handle for $15 that sucks. I wish I'd have just bought the $6 plastic one.

I'm installing my surround sound system in my home office. Tried it out tonight with LMFAO's sexy and I know it. A picture fell off the wall. Wife was not happy. Good stuff.

Need some thoughts.

Backyard patio looks like shit. Cracked and uneven concrete. I want to do like a floating ground level deck probably all the way to the fence and to the edge of the backdoor stairs.

How do I go about doing it.

I figured I could mount the framing to the posts already there for the fence so it doesn't move around.

I want to do the same. But you still need to sink the poles in concrete which can be a pita

@RICH17

You do not need to sink posts into the concrete. You can actually just drill into the concrete and use some wedge anchors for structural points on the deck. Simpson should make anchor base plates for this application. I would use probably a 1/2" x 4" wedge anchor depending on how thick your pad is. Each base plate should take about 4 anchors. The shear and pull out values would be more than sufficient for this application.

If you need anymore help let me know, I have a lot of experience with concrete anchoring applications.

I yeah. Definitely to the fence. Now I'm thinking to go a couple feet out past the stairs to make it a little bigger.

Depends on the city/village and their regulations. We were planning no doing that with a gazebo to my parents patio here in Streamwood. No go, wouldn't pass inspection. Had to do individual sonotubes past the frost line then build off those.

This only matters of course if you're doing it with permits or are worried about your neighbors calling in your work.

Yeah I was purely speaking outside of permit work. It just does not seem cost effective to demo an entire pad just to run a post into the ground when you can anchor into the pad.
