its a vtec motor tho...those wouldnt be single cam would they?

Juding by the spark-plugs being on the front half of the valve cover, and it being a Vtec motor its probably a D16Z6

They came in the 1992-1995 Civic SI's and EX's, and were SOHC/Vtec (Vtec only on the intake side)

When you hear talk about honda motors, 99% of the time a "D-Series" means SOHC, small displacement, typically 1.5 or 1.6 liter

"B-series" means DOHC, most were Vtec 1.6 liter-2.0 liter

"F-series" means typically BIG SOHC (2 liters +)

"H-series" means typically BIG DOHC (2 liters +)

"K-series" means newer engines, all 2 liter or more and twin cam IIRC.

actually the single cam F motors are the big thing right now- dime a dozen and the head, although only a single cam, outflows an H22....

and you can toss more boost at an F series than an H series IIRC also?

I was just reading an article on Bisimoto's 9 second NA SOHC F-Series powered Insight today speaking of which.

cracked valves dont happen that fast... it takes awhile to heat up a valve to the point that cold air from lack of a manifold will crack a stem

Youtube search the video "Killing a civic" or something like that.

They beat on a D15 powered hatch over-seas for nearly 15 min with no header until it dies, feeding water into it instead of oil......
