BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...

I own a sho (and albeit an older one) and 3.5's can

-chew threw timing chains (mine did)
-intakes can gum up due to direct injection
-Mass air flow meters wiring can get jacked up
-Chew through batteries(gone through 3 in 4 years and my car is daily driven in a heated garage...

He had no skin in the game, not sure why he’d lie. We’re talking the same vehicles he sees over and over again, not one example of a sho.

That’s true and I remember being the only vehicle going up vail pass after they reopened it in a snow storm. Was fine. Didn’t even use my chains.

Some days I think I want a burb, others I don’t. Same length as my Sierra was and it was tight parking that thing at times. Plus I don’t miss the mpg drain. Expedition is far too big for her and I’m not driving a Ford. No ecoboost no care.

You have zero mountains or hills.

Edit: also they throw down some rocks every once in a while on the road. We don’t get the constant salt like you do so I can get slippery quick. I’d probably end up with studs.

-Chew through batteries(gone through 3 in 4 years and my car is daily driven in a heated garage...
-I've heard of the timing issues, but doesn't seem extremely prevalent
-The intakes are a huge issue, but I've done nothing except run 93 and Mobil 1 oil, and occasionally run the car HARD, and the build up has actually decreased significantly.
-Not sure what you're talking about with the MAF, as the 3.5's have no MAF, they have a MAP, and I've never heard of any issues with it.
-Also the battery issues are a new one

Issues that I've heard and run across
-PTU (transfer case) blowing up, but primarily pre-2014. A way to stave off failures is to make sure the tires are always within 1/32nd of each other.
-Premature turbo failures (but this has been pretty overblown, a few people definitely had premature failures, but more often than not both turbo's failed at once, or within a month or so, which leads me to believe something environmental or maintenance related. The turbo's are actually different in that one spins clockwise and the other counter clockwise which SHOULD rule out manufacturing.) Seems most fail around the 120K mark. I'm working on 130K on my stock units, and haven't seen any issues or redflags.
-Spark plugs, if they haven't been changed, it's the first thing that should be done. They came from the factory with terribly gapped plugs...when I pulled mine, the gaps were anywhere between .29 and .4
-Brakes - shouldn't be an issue with a PI or SHO, but poor brake feel and bad ABS/hydraulic units seem to be sporadic, but not uncommon.
-CO contamination - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ford-ex...de-complaints

My vote is for a 2nd 'Hoe. Only reason I don't have a PPV now is that I drive too much, and want something with better gas mileage than the Flex.

I'd also be worried about parts availability on the Caprice, as already has been stated.

Only other BIG issue Iíd be concerned with at 100k+ is the water pump, since itís driven by the timing chains. Kinda turned me off from them if I was to buy a used higher mileage one.

The explorer should of never been thrown into the mix. Rare to find a 3.5 ecoboost for a good price and any civilian units look lame.

So this week I’ll finally fix the seat motor (gear is stripped on one of the up/down motors) so the wife can drive it more comfortably and see if she indeed wants a hoe or not.

Yea I’ll have snow tires, I may even do studded snows since shit is always so icy here. Snow is never an actual problem, it’s the thaw freeze or snowing right at freezing point and then icing over that’s sketchy.

I mean my Silverado was fine with new crappy AT tires and 4 tubes of sand. We even got a huge snowfall when I had that, was at the rocker panel.

@HILROD @daturbosix @Smokinhot

Do you think this is too aggressive for an otherwise stock car (with headers)? It’s an l77 6.0 engine and e85 compatible

that, my friend is the sloppy stage 2 cam. real good for boost.

made by elgin industries.

https://www.amazon.com/Elgin-E-1840-.../dp/B00EZ7DTZ2

i have one i put in my 5.3 that was going to be swapped into blue balls. but it sold. so now i have that entire swap sitting...

it should be fine. but i would get a bit looser of a converter for it to be *better* than leaving the stock one. you might notice some creep or sluggishness leaving from a stop.

I found this article last night and went but don’t think I want to do a converter any time soon. Trying not to go full retard so I can actually finish my damn Buick.

Any suggestions on a cam for just intake/exhaust/cam?
