it will be a beast when you get it all done . I have an alpha 9 turbos sitting in the garage. I was planning to install them last month but I hate to have a down time in nice summer months so this will have to wait until winter

I bought the car knowing I had to do the coils, plugs, and what not. So I knew I would have to have it down for a short while. But after uploading the Cobb tune and having misfires I knew I couldn't wait till winter to upgrade anything. The coils and plugs have had it. So just gonna do it all at once and be done. Plus going out with buddies with supercharged Mustangs, pulleyed and tuned Z06, GTR, and so on, I was just being left behind. So fuck it, let's get it all done! haha

Your car runs great and there is no reason to have it down during the summer. Unless you really wanted that extra power to test the car before winter. But I agree, it is hard to have a car down in the spring, summer and fall months when we only have limited months to drive the cars to begin with.

I think it is some run off quick detailer. It ran into the plastic bottom piece. I didn't see it as it is basically facing the ground where it is at. Bumper is in great shape. No worries.

And while the engine and trans are out I'll be detailing the under side of the car as well as the engine and trans some. Maybe the suspension. We will see what happens. But it isn't a new car. It has miles and shows use. But luckily no abuse. lmao

It's getting a paint correction and paint sealant at the end of the month. All will be good then. Haha

So I put in about 3 hours of work last night. I took my time to make sure I got the bumper off without messing anything up. Then got all the coolant pipes, oil pipes, and thermocouple out without damaging anything. The thermocouple is only sourced used. And still, go for $800 a pair. So glad I don't have to buy those! haha

The car was engineered well and was thought out well. All except for accessing the coils and plus. It has to be a huge pain in the ass and probably an 6-8 hour job. Plugs and coils are being the frame, turbos, exhaust, tubing, and so on. I hope they don't need changing for years to come. Lmfao

I left off with the exhaust hardware, and few other pieces of hardware that looked like it might fight me, soaking in penetration oil. So hopefully the engine and trans will be out of the car and separated by the end of the weekend. So we can get the coolant housing to my buddy for welding.

Jeeze, talk about a short path to the exhaust. I'm surprised more of them don't spit flames regularly.

Ya, the exhaust is really short. Pisses me off it cost so much for aftermarket exhaust because there isn't much there. lmao

I am sure you don't see many spitting flames because most have cats on them or the fueling isn't set up to spit flames. But it would be easy to have them spit flames when you let off the gas if you really wanted it to do so.

Occasional flame is nice as long as it doesn't come with the special Lamborghini mode, "Set bumper on fire."

haha Two buddies have the GT2 style exhaust outlets. I think it looks great. But both of them have discolored and melted rear bumpers below the exhaust. Neither one spits flames. But the design must get hot and/or allow the hot gasses to hit the bumper cover. I think the Klein exhaust doesn't stick the tip out farther then the bumper. If it stuck out more, like in the pic below, it might not melt and discolor the bumper as much.

I have the smaller exhaust exit so it used the stock tailpipes. I hope it keeps the bumper safe from melting. lol

Here is one with a couple of the belly pans removed. So you can see the transaxle, driveshaft, coolant pipes, heater pipes, a/c pipes, brake lines, and so on.

So last night Eric and I put a couple hours in to get the engine out of the car. Surprisingly nothing fought us besides one water hose and the quick disconnect lines for the power steering. No frozen, broken, or stripped hardware. And seeing how it was engineered was interesting too. Usually, there is a "why the F did they do that?" when working on cars. There really wasn't any of that but some stuff is tight just due to limited space. The worst job has to be coils and plugs. Because they are buried behind the turbos, oil lines, a so on. I hope I don't have to do them often. lol

We got the engine out around midnight. So only did a quick inspection. Looks like there are no leaks other than the clutch accumulator that we knew about on the pre-purchase inspection we did.

So tonight will be about 4-5 hours to tear down the engine to get the coolant housings off to get the new billet tubes welded on. Then split the engine and transaxle to put in the new clutch. Then I have a lot of time cleaning gunk off parts and prepping the original parts for new gaskets & o-rings. Hopefully, things continue to move smoothly and we can get all the new parts on and get it back in the car.
