Seeing as the car will be 98% on the street, that is where I want to make sure I can enjoy it more than anything. I have not put but like 10 miles on it so far. The poly motor mounts and trans insert definitely added some vibrations but nothing too bad. I am sure I won't notice them after a while. Even if I do it isn't a concern and the benefits outweigh going back to stock mounts.

Same with the clutch. I knew it would require a lot more pedal effort since it has a stronger pressure plate and no hydraulic assist anymore. But the feel of the clutch engagement point is sooooo worth it. I'll drive it for a while and if it is too heavy for my tastes I can swap out the stock clutch pedal spring for the GT3 version. Which is stiffer and will make it so the clutch will require less pedal effort.

The exhaust isn't loud but it isn't quiet. I think if it was louder I would have an issue over long road trips. So it might be holding back some power but will probably be worth the trade-off as it has no drone and isn't too loud.

It is a new set up and I am sure there may be some tweaks along the way. haha

I am beat. lol I would work from 7am till 7pm, then get at Eric's place from 8 till anywhere from 10pm to 1am. Some nights I would crawl into bed at 2am just to get up at 6am again for work. One day I was there from 10am till midnight. I put in the hours in man. haha Eric is just like me, he hardly sleeps.

Now I get to take Eric's car apart so we can put the upgraded turbos on his car. So another marathon of motor out of a Porsche starting tonight. lmao

So far so good. There are some things I have to tweak and work on yet. But the major work is done at least. I will be out enjoying it as much as possible until snow flys.

btw, how did it go with the tire thing we talked about the other day?

Hopefully it will be done and ready for rides. I am waiting on Sam to get tuning on this thing. But so far it moves out pretty well for being on a base 93 octane tune. Yesterday I got to confirm it is running well. A buddy and I did a quick run from 50 mph. His supercharged coyote has gone 10.3 @ 135 as well as 160 in 1/2 mile event. He was able to read my license plate the whole time.

ok he gave me the hit. But we were still evenly paced. My traction control was on and when it got into boost the car was cutting power a few times in 3rd gear. So for it to be running with a car like that on the base tune I am happy. More power to come. Especially on that e85.

It has over 250 miles on it so far. I took it easy other than that run and three 3rd gear WOT runs for data logs.

Vogz has a 911 Turbo a couple years before I did. If that is what you are referring to.

Here is another build like mine. This guy has slightly smaller turbos but a full 3" exhaust. They are still tweaking and sneaking up on the tune. It is a stock motor so they limit the torque to keep the stock rods from bending.

The most important question of the day is, will you be powershifting the car?

You can see in the dyno graphs above that these are not high rpm motor. They taper off a little power over 6500. They do offer cams for these motors. But I don't think that is something you see done often.

haha not so sure about that. I have a feeling that rebuilding that transaxle isn't as cheap as a t5. Nor are parts. lmao

I was surprised to see peak power at such a low rpm. But, that will just make rowing gears more fun depending on the gearing

Ya, these are not high rpm screamers. They have tiny turbos and use the torque to get these things accelerating. Peak HP stock is 6,000 rpm I believe. With a tune it isn't uncommon for tuners to push the turbo harder higher in the RPM to get them to 6500-7000.

Why? It's a turbo motor. Peak power just over 6000 is pretty standard.

Torque curve on these cars is as flat as Kansas so you you really don't need to be in the right gear for thrust.

I associate Porsche motors with higher rpm. I figured they did some German wizardry and had a higher rpm turbo motor as well

Yea, that's definitely the case with the N/A Porsche powerplants. When you don't have displacement you need revs.

No German wizardry here, just a motorsports proven engine with some turbos strapped to it.

The GT3 motor is a high rpm motor. That is it. Everything else is lower rpm and turbos help that torque a lot. Be it in the 911, or Cayenne.

BBI Autosport did a 911 Turbo build called Project Swan. They used the GT3 upper-end valve train to get the high rpm out of the larger 3.8-litre motor while keeping it turbocharged. That is a big dollar build as they converted it to a rear wheel drive only (hard to do on a 997), cup car suspension, and added a Holinger sequential gearbox. But an ohhhh so cool car.

The link with a starting time doesn't seem to work here anymore. The BBI Project Swan starts at 1:20.

A sequential trans is epic. But not cheap by any means. lol

A guy is selling a sequential shifter set up for the stock trans. It uses a solenoid to move the shifter rods on the trans. So the shifter just gets pulled back and forth. It is a cool set up. It's the $7k new and the used one is like $3.5k. lol
