So I was invited to US41 with a couple buddies from LS1Tech on Friday for a private track rental from 10am-5pm and then test and tune until dusk. As most of you know I haven’t been racing this car in a long time. 3 years to be exact. I have had a lot of things going on in my personal life and just not dedicated to toying with the car as I use to be. I do enjoy driving it still.
So I decided to commit to this track day. I was very nervous because I was so out of loop with the car. I did have the motor refreshed but no major changes to the setup. I tried taking it easy until I got use to the car again. I started out on spring pressure and limping it out since I stupidly left my TC and ABS on so I couldn’t get a burnout going on the first pass. Great start to the day. The subsequent passes I started to add timing and boost on the controller but for some reason I couldn’t gain on boost over a few psi no matter how much I’d command. I had a hard wall at 14psi so I switched my controller source from compressor housing to manifold to gain another 2psi but still the controller wouldn’t budge. May have to go co2 and assess any leaks. Fuel and age were a little rich so I leaned that out a little to target .75-.78 lambda. Regardless I’m pretty happy with how the car did especially given I drove 45 minutes to the track, did a hand full of wheelies, drove back home. 0 issues outside of boost control anomaly.
