I heard if you tune with a MAF on an Ecoboost you get to 1,000 hp.

If you LS swapped this thing, and you should, you could have a MAF

I figured these things would have 45 sensors in it like every ford from the 2000's

Ford EcoBoost's engines do not operate with a Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor.

They utilize a MAP sensor & an IAT sensor.

Yes, it's 1987 Speed Density 5.0 back in action

@Ryan02Stang @BeerOrGasoline

Are there any issues with carbon buildup in the intake/valves? Catch cans necessary?

Yeah...carbon buildup is a hot topic on the ecoboost forums.

I have seen people posting that they've needed their valves cleaned due to carbon buildup. One guy posted pictures and his valves looked horrible...can't remember the mileage. Some people swear by catch cans, and it makes sense to me that they work. I personally don't have one installed but do have a couple buddies that think I'm nuts for not installing one.

I figure that I beat on mine hard enough that I hopefully burn off/prevent some of the buildup. Honestly have no idea if there is science to back that up.

This seems to be the catch can of choice....

Carbon build-up is an issue. There are a few schools of thought with this.

1) Catch Can: UPR & RX Speedworks Monster Can are the two most popular. I could go really in-depth as to why they're the best but it gets overly technical for something that filters crud out & doesn't throw a CEL. That's all you really need to know.

2) Run it hard & use certain fuel-additives every 5k miles. This is the camp I'm in. I grandpa it M-F, run her hard once a week on either Saturday or Sunday (ie; do some WOT pulls, show a 6.2/8spd silverado how purdy my LED taillights are, tow some shit, etc) & use Techron Fuel System Cleaner about every 5k. $16.99 is a bottle big enough to treat my 36gal tank. If it helps, it helps. If it doesn't, it's not like I spent assloads of money on it.

3) Meth. Add Meth, Gain Powah, Clean Valves. Win/Win/Win.

4) Drive it as is, hope for the best.

I'll probably go with the #2 option. Last few cars were e85 capable, and I used to run a tank of that through, every 6 months or so, to clean everything out (station I go to usually had 90% ethanol as tested). I try to run the car hard, through a few gears at WOT, regardless of the car. Give it the ole Italian tune-up. I try to do that more with turbo cars, because I know they can be a bit more sensitive, but this is my first foray into direct injection, so you don't get the cleaning effect on the valves, like you would with port injection.

If I get up the courage, I may take off the manifold, and poke my head down into the runners, to see how they look...maybe I'm going to need to get them cleaned? Wonder if Ford would cover that under their extended service plan?

Catch can won't help much. I've had a catch can on my EB Mustang since 1000miles and by 8k they still had a noticeable layer of crap on them. Tuner said the intake valve is still open enough as combustion starts to get a little buildup on the valve. the DI sprays directly into the cylinder so the valves don't have fuel ruining over them and nothing to keep them clean. Water/meth or any kind of aux fuel system would solve it by passing fuel over them.

I went water/meth on my car and plan on pulling the intake over the winter to check the valves again, hoping they are fresh and clean.

Black top with black/gun metal wheels all day everyday.

Spoiler looks good, polished lips/accents would look good too.

Definitely needs different grill that you want.
