figure id start a build thread. This little project is going to take me awhile i think but should be fun to do.

its a 51 Willys truck i picked up for a killer price of $400 and it was fairly complete. The bed is a bit rough but it will be getting modified to fit the frame so its not big deal. Its currently sitting on a 82 cutlass frame i bought from a friend for $150. I did have it on a mighty max frame but the build i had in my head the chassis just wouldnt be able to handle it. Plus the aftermarket is strong still for the gbody platform. I plan on going full aftermarket on the suspension, want this to handle and well as go. The power that will get the beast down the road is a 6.0 LQ9 motor i picked up for $500, I plan on doing a mild build and have a hp in mind id like to hit and doing some research it seems that i will be fairly easy to do. Im hoping to put a ford 8.8 rear end in the back as it seems to be the best back for the buck rear end without spending an arm and a leg on a 9 inch setup or a build 12 bold. The whole idea behind this is to be able to hop in turn the key point the nose in any direction and be able to go without the worry of being unreliable. Figure if I am going to build this I might as well build it with as much modern day stuff as i can to help make that goal a reality.

the cab at the moment is just sitting on the frame, i need to get it to the point of a roller and have the motor and trans in so I can get the final placement of the cab so it looks right. Hopefully this summer i can get it on the ground and start to do those mods.

picked up a set of 2 inch drop spindles from a friend over the weekend. will use these for mock up, I plan on doing the 2wd blazer spindle and brake conversion.

Picked up a 84 Regal roller parts car last week to use for a parts car to get mine back on the ground. Also picked up a 9 inch rear end with 31 spline axles in it. Just need to put the rest together to have a rear end to go under it. Hoping to have it on the ground in a couple months or so. now to find a 2wd 4l80e in the future then i can set drive train in.

Don't know about right now, but the you pull yard off Washington St in Joliet had over a half dozen to choose from and I think they were around 250 with core charge incl.

I may have to call down and see what they have, thanks for the info. I may of found one for 350 but need to save up some, or part out some of the regal. I think im going to put a recycle sticker on the back when done. Ive paid almost nothing out of pocket for this build. Got a free van that started it all and its gone from there.

been a long time since i last posted anything on the site, between racing, work, buying a house and now a baby on the way things have been a little hectic but im still plugging away at the willys.

so the 04 mustang i was driving got totaled so i kept the shelby cobra wheels for it so in my head im thinking it may be a good fit for the truck and they were free after insurance paid off the car and put some jingle in the pocket.

I found a nice mid 80's s10 blazer frame from down south, guy had it blasted painted and put all new goodies up front including brand new drop spindles.

found a good 4l80e trans for the 6.0 motor so its not a matter of finding a harness to make it all work. debating on a fresh painless harness of finding a used one.

and at some point i plan on bagging it, hopefully spring time or maybe make it a next winter project.

been awhile since ive posted, i have hit a road block with the project trying. its race season for me so the race car has taken top priority. none the less im still at it here and there with it. hoping in the next month or so to have the motor and and trans dropped in and after that its fitment of body onto chassis.
