Bought the car locally in 2012 and daily drove it for a year. Was a whipple 2.3 car, making 590rwhp on 93. Ended up melting a piston in 2013 and the car has been torn apart ever since. After parting out most of the high dollar Cobra-tax items, the project is starting to come together - LS turbo turd.

Just out of curiosity, why the racepak dash over Holley digital dash? I've been researching the two and it seems like the Holley gives way more bang for the buck and has more capability. The only thing I like about the racepak is that it looks nicer when mounted in place of the stock gauge cluster.

The Holley looks ugly since it's square shaped and doesn't match the shape of the cluster.

You answered your own question. Racepak is an actual gauge replacement, while the Holley is a supplemental setup in my mind.

Much easier to see a racepak display over an LCD. However I'd consider adding the Holley dash somewhere if I end up Racing in a class that doesn't allow a laptop in the car

Some pics of the aftermath- on the trailer coming home and the melted piston.

I started parting everything out- selling and trading for all kinds of crap I could use for the build. The goal was to see how much stuff I could acquire, solely paid for by stuff Im taking off - cobra tax wew!

I worked with VRN Welding, Strange, and TeamZ to get the rearend and suspension figured out. VRN welded on the 9" ends at the width I chose, installed the coilover brackets, and put the one brace on. I painted the housing with POR15 and assembled everything at work- 35 spline spool with 3.27 gears and stock Cobra brakes. The suspension consists of relocated double adjustable uppers, double adjustable offset lowers, anti roll bar, and double adjustable rear coilovers with some fancy valving option for small tires. I still need to weld on the ARB tabs once the rear is mocked up in the car.

I came across this 5.3L truck motor with ~100k miles for practically free. Figured I would at least use it for mockup, and potentially run it for a bit until the Dart block motor is built. I will open up the top ring gap, change head gaskets, and throw some spare ARP head studs in. I mocked up the stainless works forward facing headers to see how the spark plug access was and to start planning for an alternator mount. They came out of a Mustang and have 1 7/8" primaries with a large 3.5" vband that I will probably neck down a bit for the crossover piping.

I started gutting the interior in preparation for the 25.5 roll cage going in in a couple weeks. I scrapped the whole HVAC system, dash, and steering column. I will be going to a carbon fiber dash shell and tubular column. I am also torching and scraping the sound deadening material. I will be installing a Wolfe mini tub kit and through the floor subframe connectors.

gutted interior looks exactly like mine lol, I decided not to do minitubs since I didnt think I'd ever put anything bigger than a 28W on there.

we are pretty much building the same car except you will have an aftermarket block and heads and I have stock junk, A/W intercooler?

The mini tub kit is really cheap, figured I'd do it now before the cage goes in and makes it a hassle. I have a set of 28x10.5Ws I'd like to put on a 15x12.

And yeah I'll be running a chiseled 3000 probably. Undecided about under dash or behind the passenger seat. And your car is way more racecar with the front mount turbo and fab wing :p

Motor plates are here and look good! Front is 3/8" aluminum and mid is 1/8" steel. I will make fore/aft limiters later.

Currently doing prep work and waiting for my plasma cutter to show up. The neighbors must think I'm running a chop shop with how much crap I throw to the curb from this car lol.

Also made progress with a more important item, better garage heat.

The car is pretty much completely gutted. I feel like Andy from Shawshank redemption, when he is hiding cement in his pant legs to sneak outside- I'm trying to hide as much of this car in my garbage cans haha.
