...I got to spend the last 2 nights in the garage "fixing" my truck.
I was headed west on the Elgin Ohare after work on Tuesday, following a white panel van. He slams on the brakes and swerves into the right lane. My natural reaction was to slam on the brakes.
What did I see ? NO traffic ahead but some large black rubber mat, square shaped object airborne.
I could not avoid it, WHACK ! like a gunshot ! I did not get out and look at the damage...I had a feeling I new what I was in for.
This is what was waiting for me:
as you can see, the fog light was knocked out of its tabs
1st I used ONR to clean the wheel and then used Mother's cleaner wax
This is after an ONR wash and clay
this is after 1 pass using PC7424XP, orange cutting pad and Menzerna IP
As you can see, this needs more attention
Wetsanded with 2000 grit
Polished after 2000 grit
Well that looks like ass
So wetsanded with 3000 grit
After inspecting the fog light, the 1 tab that uses a screw to hold it in place broke..so a little JB weld and 24 hours later
After polishing with Menzerna SIP and IP using 6" and 4" orange cutting pads, Menzerna FPII with a white polishing pad and waxing with collinite 845 with a red finishing pad
No flash
The bumper is not perfect...the scratches underneath are still somewhat visible and there are 2 small spider cracks.
