The Indy Airstrip Attack - 1/2 Mile Event. August 6-7.

Dear Chicago Garage team!

My name is Ryan and I'm the co-owner of Shift-S3ctor. As you may know, we host 1/2 mile events through the country and are proud to be hosting our first ever Indy event on August 6-7.

The mods gave me the OK to post up here as I had been talking with Brian for a while about an event in the region, and our Indy event is only 3 hours from Chicago. We would love to have a great Chicago showing at the event.

I'm here to answer any and all questions. We opened registration today and driver spots are already filling, so I wanted to make sure you guys and gals were aware and had a fair chance to get in.

I'm impressed with the rules and setup, thats quite the accomplishment if you can keep it all that organized with that many cars. The 180mph+ guidelines makes sense and wondering if anything bad happened to prompt those?

Thanks! We were the first to offer half-mile events on the west coast starting back in February of 2012 and we will have our 20th event by the end of this year. Nothing bad happened to prompt our safety precautions, but lives have been spared because of them. Our events tend to bring out the high horsepower monsters, with a lot of 1500+whp cars consistently going 200+mph. We've had cars go off at 200mph+ before and, due to our safety precautions, have never had a single injury. *knock on wood*.

Considering that 200mph is almost 1/8th mile every 2 seconds, yeah, safety is welcome.
