Epic road trip

Been meaning to post up about this for a while just got kind of lazy.

Last year Cobraspence and I stumbled across a group of car enthusiasts who get together to do long road trips. Having done the power tour 7 or 8 times it was time to try something new so we signed up to do the epic road trip. Drove out to Vegas to start a 9 day cruise with 30 or so people we did not know. Most of which had European cars so we added some diversification by bringing a fat gen camaro.

Quick run threw of the places we stopped at

Day 1 - Hoover Dam + Planes of fame museum
Day 2 - Grand Canyon south rim
Day 3 - Grand Canyon north rim
Day 4 - Zion Canyon
Day 5 - Bryce Canyon
Day 6 - Petrified forest + Capital reef
Day 7 - Arches + Canyon lands
Day 8 - Canyon lands + Needles
Day 9 - Mesa Verde
Total miles was over 5,000

Best part about this trip was it had a little something for everyone. We hiked several beautiful canyons. I tried 20 or so new beers at various local breweries. Drove fast on some curvy roads. Drove fast on some straight roads. Most importantly met a great group of people that I am still friends with and am planning on meeting for another trip in July.

Easily $3000+ that being said we didn't really go on a budget so I am sure you could do it for a lot less. (Like not spending $150 at twin peaks watching the blackhawks beat the ducks in game 7)

That is a combine cost not per person.

3 porshes, 4 bmws, 1 lotus, 1 jaguar, 1 mercedes, 1 rented equinox -aka the joke of our trip, and 1 Hyundai.

It was awesome. If anyone ever goes out that way I highly recommend Zion Canyon, Arches, and Mesa Verde. By far my 3 favorite stops.

Yeah we went to mesa verde and the petrified forest on a fam vacation as I kid but I can barely remember. Another bucket trip is renting a Porsche or something with the wife and doing the cali coast. I really want to see the redwoods.

That is on my bucket list also. Hoping to meet up with some of the same people I did this with since they are all from California.

I think I'm more impressed that someone did 5k miles in 9 days in a lotus.

My back hurts thinking about it.

I think me and cobraspence were the only ones at 5k. California is much closer then Illinois. I also did part of a day in the lotus it was rough.

Edit: The guy in the rented equinox is from Maryland. He said he wasn't driving his lotus to Vegas then spending 9 days in it.

Ya I talked to him last night and we think we could have done it for closer to $2500 if we cut some of the extra stuff we did - like spending an entire day in Vegas before the trip. Either way it was worth every dollar.

It was a great trip. Some of the same people are doing a smaller trip out in Colorado in July. Trying to get my ducks in a row for that.

id love to do the hot rod power tour long haul someday. or route 66, or a trip like this looks cool too. I have family that lives near zion national park and i love going up there and hiking. the road up the park is cool as is the tunnel you go through lol
