The heads and block are dark gold. Someone didn't take good care of this, but no blame on the current owner (he's never even driven it!)

There was valve to piston contact in cylinders 5&6 but so minimal I don't think anything bad happened.
The car is.getting the heads rebuilt, new gaskets/seals, J-Mod and a going through by me to make it road ready.

Cylinders 5&6...see where the valves made contact?








Now the meat and potatoes.
Big event happened in #8, so much the exhaust valves are bent and hanging open at all times.



It might be hard to see in the pic, but the opposite side of the valves are CLOSED! Can you say BENT?

Alright back to the garage. Gotta bag the heads and intake to take to the shop.
Intake is all kinds of cruddy so Ill have it tanked.
Lets hope all the head needs is 2 valves, 2 guides and a valve job/seals.

I totally couldnt see any of the piston contact with my video probe. Nothing beats a tear down and visual instection.

Thats weird a stock 4V having PTV contact. How are the springs?

All in all its not that bad, the previous owner didnt keep the oil changes up but the pistons look good. You going with new heads or refreshen the old ones?

Edit: Are those the correct valves? They're pertruding from the head and are not in the closed position. Weird....

I am going to prep the block for new gaskets today, and do the J-MOD.
In addition, install a drain plug in the trans pan like I do in every car.

Heads go in tomorrow, as well as the timing cover, cam covers and intake to be hot tanked.

Gotta love dropping the pan on a 125k Trans and finding this:




J-Mod done, block prep done. Gotta make a list of things to order tomorrow.
Window switch removed for repair as well.

More Fail, wrong thermostat (improperly sized bypass plate)



The old owner apparently needed a MAF connector for his mustang, so I had to solder in a new connector and wrap it.

Just ordered the following:

Both fixed chain guides
Both floating chain Guides
New Chain tensioners

Not taking any chances with these old parts and the one cheapo replacement chain guide that was on the car.

How many miles are on the motor?

What kind of abuse causes the valves to make contact with the pistons?

Too few oil changes in this motor?

This car has 125k. And it has the most hillbillic Zex dry shot kit on it ive ever seen.

I had to order a Crank Position Sensor pigtail because the old owner broke it and had it cable tied in place.

I cant make this shit up!
