Default I invite you all to give multi-gun a try. novice shooters and seasoned all welcomed

Hi everybody. If you ever entertained the idea of giving multi-gun a try (or 3-gun as you may know it by) then please get involved and get those guns out in real shooting situations and enjoy them. 4-29-18 is BRC's first multigun event of the year.

What i'm offering all of you is a great place to learn and experience competitive multi-gun shooting. Beloit Rifle Club (BRC) is a fantastic place to get started into the sport and they are open to all participants that want to give it a try. BRC is a private shooting club but will be open to all shooters for multigun that wish to participate. The first match this year is going to be 2-gun event (pistol and shotgun) and there will be 4-5 stages to shoot per event. The club has several strong shooters (myself included) that want to try and get new shooters in the sport so the sport itself can grow. The cost is $20 per event to non-members if memory serves me correct and I will post a link to their events page.

All you need is a pistol with 2-3 mags, pistol holster, shotgun, eye protection, hearing protection, and of course ammo. Also you need to be able to follow range commands from an R.O ( you will be taught what these are and this is simple to do) 9mm is the pistol of choice and having hi capacity mags is a benefit. You can also use .40 or .45 if you so desire. Shotgun ammo has to be LEAD only(no steel due to shooting at steel targets) and either 7.5 shot or 8 shot. Having a few magazine caddies would be helpful but not needed (use your rear pockets or cargo's if you got them) and I will be lending out some shotgun shell caddies to those who will be wanting to try those out as well. I will also bring one of my shotguns set up for multigun for those who may need to borrow or want to try out a proper shotgun.

There are different shooting classes but you can bring what you have and we will get you sorted out. The classes are as follows>>>>

Tactical Irons: Any tube fed shotgun with a maximum 13 rounds max at start and no ported barrels. Any 9mm, .40, .45 pistol with a magazine length of 140mm max (21 rnds for most 9mm) and no ported barrels, and no magnified optics on the rifle, iron sights or a red dot only.

Tactical Optics: Any tube fed shotgun with a maximum 13 rounds max at start and no ported barrels. Any 9mm, .40, .45 pistol with a magazine length of 140mm max (21 rnds for most 9mm) and no ported barrels, only 1 optic is allowed on your rifle and it can be either magnafied or a reddot. irons can be used with the optic.

OPEN: any tube fed or box magazine fed shotgun is allowed and you can use an optic on your shotgun. Any 9mm, .40, .45 pistol with a max mag length of 171.25MM, a red dot is allowed and you can use a comp or porting. multiple optics are allowed on your rifle.

since the first event will be pistol and shotgun only then you will be in tac irons unless you have a red dot on your pistol or a box fed shotty...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..post up and ask questions and don't be afraid of wanting to learn. Fun is the goal here and you will learn how to shoot your guns under a safe and fun enviroment. you will be moving and shooting and doing reloads on the move. you will also learn advanced gun techniques that you cannot learn under normal shooting conditions at the range.

If you are skeptical or unsure of trying it out and want to simply come on out and see it for yourself then please also do that. all you need is safety glasses and hearing protection .

here is the dates of the events for this year.

4-29
5-27
6-24
7-22
8-12
9-30

Interested in the 2 gun event. If I came I'd probably have at least the second or third jankiest gear. So, where to begin:

-is 4+1 adequate for a shotgun? I have an Ithaca 37 waterfowl style (long barreled) I would probably bring. Otherwise I'd think about borrowing my buddy's KSG. Can I down load?
-I have an SD9VE+ 6 mags W/a Serpa. Are Serpas banned?
-How much ammo for each gun?
-Is sling advised or required for the shotgun?
-What tools etc. should I end up bringing?

The wifey is thinking about tagging along and finding something to do with the kiddo.

you would be suprised.. i've seen all kinds of janky gear, generally on new shooters but its all about getting started and seeing if you like it and then go on with equipment after that.

4+1 with a shotgun... that will work you will just have to load more which will just cost you more time. being your first time you need to be more concerned with shooting safetly and having fun, than your overall time. I will offer the use of my 13+1 and i'm sure several others will as well but honestly its best to use what you are comfortable with because you will be smoother with it. And yes you can download on your shotty. mine holds 14 and i'm forced to start with less.. just means once the buzzer goes off to start you can fill it to bax capacity and go to town.

That pistol will work and SERPA's are not banned. many of us use positive retention so we don't loose a pistol in a prone situation. dropping your pistol loaded or unloaded either from your hand or holster is an automatic disqualification for the rest of the day. As long as you are comfortable with the holster and don't shoot yourself then you're good to go.

The stages haven't been released yet so I don't have a round count yet but I reccoment bringing 150 rounds per gun. As a rule of thumb always bring 150-200 of each and you never have to worry about running out.. generally BRC is around 100 per and I bring 150 per to make sure. Also you may want to bring a box (5ct) of slugs. sometimes you have shooting options and slugs are good to have JIC..

A sling will not be needed at this first event.. most of the stages shot in the northern IL area do not require a sling.. i probally have close to 100 stages shot under my belt and i've needed a sling 2 times.

Tools.. honestly you really shouldn't need tools but I would bring allens that fit your guns and maybe a slotted and philips screwdriver.. the only time i need tools is to fix something that broke on someone elses stuff..lol.. maybe want to bring a cleaning kit JIC.. thats only if you get a squib on a pistol and need to ram something down your barrel.. if shooting factory loads this shouldn't be a concern and a stick can be used if necessary (yes i've done this)

I really hope to see you there.. it wont be an all day thing.. generally we shoot from 9-2.. I will post what time the safety meeting is in the morning (thats what time the cutoff is to register).

i say anytime after 9:30am.. there are generally a few people that show up to watch that are looking to get into the sport. Don't be suprised if they try and get you to shoot..lol.. the multi gun community is super helpful and want to get everyone involved that shows interest.. we love to lend out equipment to try and get those to shoot that haven't. Secertly I think some just want to hear how awesome their gear is from another person..lol

I took the liberty to mark where we meet at. GPS isn't your friend to find this place so here's a visual of what is going on

The entrance to the multigun area is right next to the Ozinga Ready concrete place..you can see the concrete towers from quite a way away. There will be a large green gate that will be open with BRC multigun signs to mark the drive. Drive to the back to where I placed the marker..this is the meeting spot and general parking

also going to throw out an invite to have you all stop out and see the very best 3-gun shoot in the northern IL area. The Polo 3-gun series at Tri-County gun club has the first event of the year this sunday. This is seriously where you are going to see the very best courses and shooters and these events draw competitors from hundreds of miles around. Polo 3-gun hosts 4 matches a year at Tri-county and each and every one of the events literally sells out in 2 minutes or less. Tri-County is a private club but will be open to all visitors for the event.

So if anyone wants to really see some impressive shooting and has some free time this sunday (4-22-18) then I encourage you to stop out and check it out. We will be shooting from 9am-4pm. This is a free event to watch and you will need eyes and ears.

Weather looks like it will be cooperating too. Do you need to bring anything special or just show up with eyes and ears and you're good to go?

You bringing the viper?

gotch... Tri-County is super easy to get into.. i think its like 140 a year and you get an electronic gate key that allows you access anytime you want from dawn to dusk. you can join any time and they prorate the membership based on when you first join

BRC is hard as hell to get into and they only take new members one time a year and you have to have 2 members sponser you that have more than 2 years membership at the club. $240 the first year and i think $120 a year after that

Aurora you can join anytime but its $$$$$ (600 i think)

there are a few others but I'm not familiar with their prices or how
