Likely sell off a bunch of my spare AR parts to help offset some of the costs of the build when I finally do it.

Do you know offhand what the ideal barrel length is for an AR9?

Also debating turning the .300BLK pistol into a full blown rifle if I do an aR9 pistol.

Anything over 11-13 inches and 16 is about where things start dropping off.

They're not insanely expensive to build unless you go crazy tbh, Primary Arms had barrels for cheap at a point.

My AR9
-New Frontier barrel
-Now sadly discontinued Promag block. These were something like 50 bucks and mine's never given me issues. I converted it to a bottom feed so I can slide it out and put it in another lower when I get my pistol turned up.
-ASC mags. I consider that part of the trick of running Colt mags is not using cheapies.
-MidwayUSA AR Stoner 15" handuard and upper
-CMMG ejection port door/shell deflector (I'd recommed the Colt oddly just because it's plastic and easier to clearance on this upper. For a standard upper the CMMG is aluminum and more durable)
-Home modded trigger, hammer spur cut off, grip screw mod, JP reduced power springs
-Wanting to say it's a CTM bolt not sure
-Regular charging handle, $4 tactical latch from China off evilbay
-M4 furniture other than the handguard and whatever buffer tube was handy.
-9mm buffer from midwayusa although I've run a standard buffer with 5 quarters behind it for a combination of increased weight and reduced travel. I would not advise running this with just a standard buffer it broke a bolt catch. The Promag block uses a standard catch to.
-MBUS sights. Some people make fun of these on a gun with no optics and honestly I'd probably cheapen out further to the UTG ones oddly. I've got a set and they're pretty nice, and supposedly what come with the SAINT as well making them livable quality and a bargain. I prefer the folders it makes stuff easier to situate in the safe tbh.

In terms of 300BO I like the round; Quite frankly It's like .357+P to me in terms of ballistics and that's a good choice for stopping stuff at shorter distances.

Wouldn't be surprised if we saw something similar with our new Democratic supermajority in IL. Proves how far the left actually wants to go on gun restrictions...not just "ban assault weapons"

https://www.guns.com/news/2019/01/14...o-20-rds-month

Quote:
Legislation submitted in the Democrat-controlled Oregon legislature would fundamentally change the state’s firearm laws, recasting them as the most restrictive in the country.

State Sen. Rob Wagner has submitted SB 501 for the upcoming session. Wagner’s bill would require licensing for gun owners prior to purchase, outlaw firearm magazines capable of holding more than five rounds and limit individual ammunition sales to no more than 20 rounds every 30 days.

20 rounds? That's like 30 seconds of range time.

So now they want you to not be able to train in the proper use of your firearm because you can't afford to practice because you need to use your ammo for self defense only?

The left wants guns, ammo, accessories, gun stores, ranges, etc. all banned. They are flat out lying if they try to play it off as anything else. They know they can't do it all at once, so they are going to inch and inch away until they have been successful.

And so it begins...

Gov. Pritzker shares his plan to fight gun violence - Story | WFLD

Quote:
He also said he wants to talk to governors in neighboring states about reducing the flow of what he calls "weapons of war."

At his first news conference as governor Tuesday, Gov. Pritzker indicated new restrictions might reduce bloodshed at future massacres.

“Bump stocks, which of course have been talked about at the federal level -- we'll have to see the implementation -- and then high-capacity magazines. Those are two examples,” Pritzker said.

He plans to target what he calls military-style "weapons of war."

“I’m certainly going to be talking to the governors of surrounding states and working on what I said during the campaign, which is to try to interrupt that flow on both sides of the border. So, those are some examples anyway of making sure that we're dealing with the weapons of war that are coming onto the streets of our state,” Pritzker said.

It's only a matter of time before the IL Gun Licensing bill goes through and signed. So on top of needing a FFL, you'll then need an IFL (Illinois Firearms License) to sell guns. That will also give any police authority to inspect your place of business for any reason or just because and make sure you have adequate security measures (cameras and safe).

One of the irrational gun laws biggest proponents asking for armed security at his alma mater because of how dangerous Baltimore has become. You can't make this stuff up!

Liberal billionaire Michael Bloomberg bemoaned the lack of a private armed security force at Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater, due to the murder rate in Baltimore.

“When you have a city that has the murder rate that Baltimore has, I think it’s ridiculous to think that they shouldn’t be armed,” Bloomberg told reporters after a meeting at Maryland's Statehouse in Annapolis with Democratic lawmakers

I legit hope now that RBG leaves and Trump jams through another justice, all this shit has to go to the SCOTUS, they need to start taking 2A cases again and stop this non-sense.

I know my vote doesn't matter in the presidential race since Illinois will always be blue, but I really might have to vote for Trump hoping he gets another term to put in more constitutional justices.

Hell, see if you can get Thomas to retire at the beginning of your second term as well and dump in another 35-40 year old in there. too.

I'm not sure the SCOTUS would help too much with this, even if conservative. They seem to have set precedent that states/cities/villages/etc. can implement "assault weapon" bans. Not saying they couldn't overturn that precedent...but I'm not sure its a sure thing.

Considering it's the only hope we really have here in states dominated by blue, it's all I can cling to.

Aside from moving to another state, what other choice do I have...
