RETARD ALERT

Quote:
It just happened.

Gunpocalypse swept through the Assembly Floor.

And it was the most outrageous showings of ignorance I have ever seen at the State Capitol, and that’s saying something as I worked there for over 5 years.

The first bill up was AB 1673, which will CRIMINALIZE the possession of unserialized firearms parts, authored by former police officer and current Assemblymember Mike Gipson (D-Carson).

According to Gipson, an 80% lower is equivalent to a “weapon of mass destruction.” Yep, an 80% lower is akin to a nuclear weapon.

Are you serious?!?!? Well, his colleagues apparently believed him and it passed on a razor thin margin of 42-30.

Next up was AB 1674, which will BAN buying more than one firearm within a 30 day period.

One of the more prominent arguments brought up in support of the bill was from Assemblymember David Chiu (D-San Francisco), who stated that this would help cut down on gun trafficking. You know, like that of former Senator and current felon and gun-trafficker Leland Yee.

Asm. Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) then stated that she only gets to exercise her right to vote once, so YOU should only be allowed to buy one gun!

That bill also passed on a tight margin of 42-29.

AB 2607 was next up and almost defeated, but at the last second votes flipped and it passed out of the Assembly by the slimmest of margins 41-39.

The bill will allow your boss, professor, or therapist to take away your gun rights in secret.

Additionally, AB 1695, which will send harassing mailers to gun owners, also passed by a larger margin as well.

Both head to the Senate.

Following that, AB 1664, which will BAN all firearms with a bullet button made it out 41-30.

It passed with such asinine statements made by the likes of Asm. Gipson, who stated that if you remove a bullet button, the gun becomes a fully automatic machine gun.

You know, we try to educate ALL of the legislators. Sometimes, though, they just don’t get it.

Although it looks grim, we aren’t out of the fight. We’ve killed bad bills before and will do it again. And don’t forget about the wildcard of Governor Brown’s veto!

How do so many ignorant people make it to an elected chair and CONTINUE being ignorant on the topics they're voting on??

California advances more anti-gun bills, citing UCLA as a rallying cry

Quote:
AB 1664, with the strong endorsement of Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris, would effectively close what the lawmakers term the “bullet button loophole” by banning the devices which require a tool to remove an otherwise fixed magazine from a semi-automatic rifle and require guns already fitted with such buttons since 2001 to register them as “assault weapons” under California law.

AB 1673, which would change the definition of a firearm under California law to include, “an unfinished frame or receiver that can be readily converted to the functional condition of a finished frame or receiver.” Such raw components would have to be regulated in the state just like other guns including having a serial number registered with the Department of Justice, transferred through a licensed dealer, and fall under DROS fee schedules and waiting periods for first-time buyers.

AB 1674 would prohibit more than one sale of any firearm to an individual inside a 30-day period. While the waiting period is currently in effect for handguns bought through a dealer only, the new bill includes language that would broaden its application to include all guns, including those sold through private transactions.

AB1695 originally mandated the Attorney General’s office to begin sending out literature to new gun buyers in the state informing them of safe storage and gun trafficking laws and was amended in committee last week to strengthen false reports of stolen firearms.

Ting’s own AB 2607 would allow an employer, a coworker, a mental health worker who has seen a person as a patient in the prior six months, or an employee of a secondary or post-secondary school that the person has attended in the last six months, to petition the court for a GVRO. Under current law, only an immediate family member or a law enforcement officer may do so.

I wonder if they even look at what they are voteing on, or just following what their "buddies" voted.

Yeah and it wasn't a random shooting. He had a hit list of 3 people. He killed the one girl in her house and then went to the school to kill the professor and himself. Never got to the 3rd person.

Hardly a school shooting. More a targeted attack.

So much bullshit. I wonder how people can believe this trash from the media. There's such a stench of lying and deceit from the media on all things firearms... its plain disgusting and presents itself clear as day as being manipulative to anyone who can actually pay attention for longer than 5 minutes.

I'm more interested in the "programming code" that the professor supposedly stole from the shooter. The professor was working on a project called a "virtual heart". Basically a giant piece of software that allows drug manufacturers to test side effects on the heart via simulation. I wonder if his code was used without permission and the professor claimed it to be his and set him off.

If I were blessed with being a millionaire and not needing to worry about working, or being responsible for my family, I'd consider it.

However, I worry that the system really is DESIGNED to corrupt and ruin people, regardless of their intentions out of the gates. While I'm a pretty strong minded person, I don't know if I'd want to tempt myself with the kind of money nor the consequences that rejecting that money brings upon a person.

How MMadigan is still around and effectively "in charge" of so many aspects of Illinois, plain amazes me - but is exactly what I'd be worried about becoming as a politician. No different than countless other Illinois governors and politicians.

I caught a little bit of a thread on Reddit about this. Most media is breaking this down as the guy being upset about grades, but some PhD students on Reddit helped to clarify.

When you're doing all this research and putting in countless hours of work, and your entire future can be dictated by the professor. Not getting credit in a published journal or something similar could be life altering for the student.

Of course, not an excuse for the shooter, but it's much more than just getting an A or B on a test.

The LA times claims its "untrue" from a "source" but based on the fact that he was upset enough to kill someone regarding programming code I believe that there is more to this story.

Went to Marengo guns today to buy a couple AR lowers. That is probably one of the nicer gun stores I've been to. It was definitely different seeing all the guns actually on the wall where you can handle them instead of under glass.

I was impressed by the selection too. Was worth the scenic cruise down 47 and 20.
