Default Challange?!?!?!?!

i was messing around with the ol glock 17 today and figured id make a video of disassembley. Then i (think) i remember somebody telling me that a 1911 is as easy to detail strip as a glock at which point i lol'd and decided to make it a video challenge. now mind you, i could probably shave off a few seconds if i practiced, but id say its a pretty reasonable time. maybe you guys can beat it with your own guns? lets see em!

oh btw i got about ~35 seconds

I failed to see the point of that contest. Does it make you shoot any faster or more accurately?

Jeez, it's just a fun little competition that is way more free than a day shooting. And I believe knowing your weapon inside and out is important

I just went back to that thread to see who it was that was riding 1911's dick, then I noticed this gem:

To make it more clear, it's:
1911:
  1. Trigger bar moves backwards, pushes against sear.
  2. Sear pivots, releases hammer.
  3. Mainspring pushes against hammer strut, which pushes against hammer.
  4. Hammer falls and makes contact with firing pin.
  5. Firing pin ignites primer.

Glock:
  1. Trigger bar moves backwards, cocks AND releases striker (firing pin).
  2. Striker spring pushes striker forward.
  3. Striker ignites primer.

The list spreads out even more when you start listing what happens after the bullet leaves the barrel.

I don't carry .45, not enough rounds. I carry striker fired m&p

But I love my berettas and 1911s and the comment in that other thread that "hammer fired guns are too prone to being gunked up" was absurd

That must have been one of those hammer operated Glocks.

Ive never ever taken my XDm down that far, and Ill be honest. Im a little skerd to.

However, after 35 seconds with my MK3, Id be all "where is my punch and my soft faced hammer" just to get the takedown pin out.

Every pin on that gun has a detent that a spring will rest in. What ever pin you're trying to push out, look inside the frame and push the spring off it. The pin will come off with gentle force.

I was talking about the mainspring housing. My gun has very tight tolerances with the mainspring bolt, and the barrel to the receiver.

I'm surprised the grip safety survived through two whole magazines. Must have been light loads.

So I tried to make a quick disassemble vid of my MK3, but failed horribly. Took 4 minutes.

I tried to post it up but stupid me deleted it. I actually had my XDm on the table too and I tried doing an off camera smack to say I win over Boosh, but ohh well.

We should have a AR15 race where we strip it down for maintenance and rebuild it Forest Gump style.

I'd offer a complete teardown of the lower receiver but there are too many different variables (two stage trigger vs GI, fixed vs collapsible stock, standard pins vs anti-walk) and that damn bolt catch roll pin is a fucking nightmare. That and I don't need anymore scratches on my lowers.

But I thought an AK only had a sledge hammer, a firing pin, and a magical little midget inside of them?
