Need a TV and Computer repaired/ tech

Let me know what u guys think i should do:

2008 HP laptop that apperantly went to shit after it got a stupid virus.
Everything froze and might need new software. Had microsoft vista.

46" samsung flat screen that one day just shut off and never turned back on.
I did some research and it might be a known problem. no warranty.
Samsung wants to send a company out but i will have to pay $120 just for them to come out.

If anyone.knows anyone around the elgin area that they trust - that might be able to help it would be great. Im not in a position to go buy new.

Laptop is definitely just a file recovery/windows reinstall. I'd put on windows 7 instead of vista though. I wouldn't even bother trying to clean it with virus programs.

TV sounds like it could just be the power supply inside or one if the circuit boards. If you have a meter and a screw driver you can take off the back, plug it in and meter after the power supply/power input of the circuit board inside. If you get nothing its a power supply.

i got a friend who fix computer/laptop his price is very reasonable. he might be able to fix your tv too. he installed hi-tech surveyllience camara and trouble shoot for living but im not too sure if he fix or not. he's in chicago tho. lmk and i'll give you his number.
