What kinda gas mileage do you get on the freeway? I don't care about in town driving, but just strictly freeway crusing.

on a 6speed, you should be able to manage at least 25mpg on the highway...i'm speaking thru no experience whatsoever, but i know you can get a minimum of that

Shit dude, that is hard to say because my brother drives his in a mixed environment and trusting the DIC is not smart. I can tell you with is auto he averages 15.... (About the same as my GXP, but I do a lot more city driving) And that is 50/50 but he does encounter some traffic as he works in the city. I doubt he gets over 25 on the highway though. I have heard the sticks are better though.

I saw they are rated at like 17/29, but consumer guide said with a 6 speed they only got 18 'with mostly freeway driving' which I think is bullshit........ but I don't own a GTO so I have nothing to compare that against...

My LS1 Auto 4 Speed almost never got above 20MPG even on the highway, usually just high teens... 6 speeds really are getting high 20's and some are pulling low 30's if driven very nicely <75MPH on highway...

Yes, but there is no 'new' LS1 ratings to my understanding.

even though the car is pre-2008 standards, they have a formula that converts the old ratings to the 2008 numbers. The 2004 manual is 16/26; auto is 15/20. The 2005 and 2006 is 15/23 for the manual and 14/19 for the automatic.
