Hey, I am having some trouble keeping my 4.8 running on the stand. Every time I start it, it runs for 3-5 seconds and then shuts off. The only sensors I don't have hooked up are the front o2 sensors. I have tried starting it without the maf plugged in and this made no change. Any ideas or suggestions you have would be appreciated! Quick run down of my set up:
Ls1 intake, injectors, and throttle body
Ecu and harness from 02 fbody. Harness is modified to be stand alone
Vats, egr, evap, low oil, and ac tuned out of ecu
Speed inc. 4.8 base tune
Here is a vid of what its doing when I try to start it. You can hear it running normally and then it just cuts out. I am leaning towards an issue with the tune. I'm bringing the ecu back to speed inc monday so they can double check everything. Don't mind the hose nozzle plugging the egr hole lol. Its all I could find on short notice.
Vats all the way. There are a few different things that need disabled, depending on the year to work without the BCM and stock ignition. Speed must have just overlooked something small.
Yea I'm thinking they disabled the code, but left the function turned on. I'll find out tomorrow. I needed them do a different tune for the ls6 cam anyway.
I'm going w/VATS too. I just seen an episode of HorsepowerTV and they swapped a 5.3 into an S10 blazer and it did the same thing. They disabled it and then it fired up and ran well.
haha yea prob not the best idea to run it on the stand. I had to hear it run though, didn't want to put it in my truck just to find out it had a spun bearing.
Stopped by speed inc during lunch. They made sure vats was turned off, and adjusted the tune for the bigger cam at no charge. Cool guys over there for sure. Gonna plug it in after work and see what happens.
The new tune fixed it. Started up first try and idled perfectly. I hear a ticking in the video that I didn't hear in person... I'm really hoping it's just the cell phone qaulity. I'm tearing into it tomorrow to start prepping it for the new cam, i'll take a closer look then.
I know we'll have to get together one weekend. Hopefully on one that's warmer
