quick question about a cam swap for an Ls1

i am getting a cam very soon and i was reading about the stock rockers dropping needle barrings into the engine because if the load of stronger valve springs. is this true??? my car have just over 143,000 miles and i wondering if it would be a good idea to change to an after market roller rocker. thanks for the help guys!

You can get the bearings on the stock rockers replaced somewhere for pretty cheap price for good insurance to prevent that from happening. It's a good idea to do it if you're going to be running heavier springs or a big lift cam. BTW, once you do this kind of work - why stop @ .550?!?!!!

oh okay, can stock rockers hold up against a .550 lift cam? i dont want a cam that lopes really hard and i want it to streetable. i guess i just fell in love with my friends setup because it pulls really hard.

With 143k, I'd spend the $ to have them rebuilt. LSA is where the lope is determined for the most part, higher the LSA, less lope you have.

You'll be replacing your springs... might as well do the rocker bearings at the same time.

buy a cam for the power, not the lope.. yes it sounds badass but it would be like kimbo, real mean looking but gets beat so easily. If you want a cam car.... make it a cam car. then add other bolt ons that make a good power

Just did the trunion upgrade on my rockers about a month ago. Good piece of mind. i never saw needle bearings in my oil pan, but didn't want to risk it either. If you don't want to do it yourself, texas speed does a service for them and you can send in your old rockers once you do the swap.

actually im going to do that instead. how long does it take to get them back? also, how many miles were on your car before you put the new barrings in?

At 143,000 miles you want to look at your crank bearings and make sure everything is up to par before adding more power.

im worrired about my barrings in my rockers because of the mileage on them, i think you are okay
