Z06 Fluids/Maintenance

I want to change my fluids in the spring for peace of mind. Not sure when or if they ever been changed before. Oil has changed already and will be again when I take it out of storage. Coolant has been changed before I put it away. The brake fluid will be changed with the brake job in the spring.

Anyway, I am looking to change the clutch fluid, trans fluid and diff fluid. Not sure what brand/kind to buy.

ive got absolutely no experience with vettes but ive heard good things about sticking w/ GM synchromesh fluid or using royal purple. Have also heard good things about red line gear lube.

Have fun doing the clutch.....it is a PITA......best thing to do if you ever do a clutch is a remote bleeder....otherwise it will never be really changed.....hard to get it all out the slave.....Dot 4 is best for the clutch pedal fluid, and I am willing to bet it is black.....

I plan to have a shop change all the fluids. Changing the clutch fluid was the most labor. I'm pretty sure they said GM clutch fluid and Royal Purple for the rest. (I guess thats what they sell) but I can bring in anything I want.

I got the oil changed a week after buying the car. I will get it changed again when It comes out of storage. Yeah I know changing the fluids might be useless or not do a thing, but its something I always do when buying a used car. Id rather be safe then sorry. Also its nice knowing the mileage on stuff and when it could need changing again.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

My Dad changes the GTO oil right before storage then drives it the next year and changes before storage again. He uses Mobil 1 and only drives a few hundred miles a year.

I work on computers not cars. Id rather have the satisfaction of knowing the job was done right by a "professional". If this was the GTP id do it myself or have RVR or James help me. I know nothing about this Corvette. Which reminds me, the GTP is due for a trans pan drop and new filter. Time to make a mess.

A corvette is nothing crazy.....I can tear that sucker apart n put it back together w ease and work......Not hard to do, Dont over think it......but drop the shops ont eh boards a line and they can do it as well.....
