To Cage Or Not To Cage?

Well, I can get a really good deal on a 6-point chromemoly roll cage custom bent/installed into my car.

But the big questions is to cage it or not to cage it? I do go to the track alot but I also daily drive the car some times, or some times it seems for weeks before I drive it. This price is avaible for avery long time so I have to act now..


Anybody in here ever have a cage in their street car? Thoughts?

my cousins lightning has one... it takes some getting used to to get in and out of quickly.. kinda takes a minute or two at first.

its weird driving on the street tho and having your arm on a tubular steel bar... instead of the window...

id say go for it if your car is quick enough to warrant one... or will be...

Did you have swing outs, no 10 point so no top halo for me or the extnesion down in front of the dash.

You should take into consideration how fast you want to go with that car years from now if you plan on keeping it. For roughly 100 bucks a point, you should get a 10pt if you plan on getting serious.

cousins truck doesnt have swing outs... itd be much easier to get in if it did.

The $620 is all materials, labor to bend to my car, taking apart my interior, welding/installing all the bars, reassembling my car and giving it back to me ready to drive out of there complete and me handing them $620.

They can go back and make it a 10 point if I go past 9.99

No, it's a very, very reputable shop. They made a mistake in advertising a special for July, so them being stand up guys they are going to honor 3 cages at that price so I have to act FAST!

If the car is fast enough to need a cage, and you take it to the track more than twice a year, I would go for it. Safety isnt something to skimp on IMO. It only takes hitting the wall once or even someone crossing the line to fuck your shit up forever.

My car isn't making the power its a mid 12 second car that has seen low 12's a couple times.

I just love looking race car, rollin' around on slicks and skinnies and thought a cage would top it off nice.

Pretty much with talking to every one else who has a cage in their f-body going to jump on it due to deal/price. And if I decide to not continue with the car I can always cut it out and sell it.
