Default Need help putting a value on a rare ZL1

I know someone with a very rare 60s ZLI motor. It is a Can Am all aluminum race motor with the serial # 0294550. Just by doing a little googling I see it is rare as hell. It's a complete motor that is literally boxed up in a crate.

Looking to help him sell it.

Does it have a VIN stamped in it?

Or is it a over the counter motor?

And without seeing the engine there is a lot left to find a true value in it. I have seen several ZL1 blocks that were destroyed and welded back together. With many of those cars went racing it isn't odd to see damage and repair. A good repair does not make it worthless either.

Here are some pictures I just took really fast. It shows the casting numbers and the general condition. The carb, distributor and air cleaner are boxed up separate. It's been in his family for years but no one knew what it was.

What is the date code on the LH side of the engine block? Near the motor mount.

Does it have fuel pump mounting?

Is there a snowflake logo on the front of the block by the timing cover?

also, Spurlock? As in Eddie Spurlock?

No clue who Eddie Spurlock is. That name is on the motor in a few different places. I will get the other info on Monday.

This is what I found, it appears C.K. Spurlock founded the Gambler Chassis Company making sprint cars. Not sure what it has to do with this engine but it seems like a good co-incidence.

Seeing as it says Spurlock and "Gambler" is stamped on it, seems likely.

Eddie Spurlock is a local guy.

I believe that 294550 is a 1968 dry sump Cam Am block. I believe the 321270 casting does not have the fuel pump boss.
