I don't really know if I can rate BFOS. Panera's is pretty good.

Years ago, the Where Else Bar on Higgins in Elk Grove Village had some awesome BFOS, came in a crock bowl and the cheese was still melting when it came. So tasty. It was a side to the Prime Rib though.

Learn to make it yourself and you will always have good, inexpensive french onion soup. If you decide to try this recipe, read some of the comments. I agree with the posters about modifying this recipe and following your cooking instincts to make the soup come out perfectly. It's a pretty easy soup to make and will impress anyone you serve it to.
