FB link but I copied too.

I guess something like this would peak my interest. $8,500. 2002 year. Looks like a 18í? Seems like a nice starter boat.

Iíd be doing all my own work on it as I would with everything else mechanical I own so thatís not an issue. Obviously, need a trailer but might try docking for a year if I like that better. I can storage at my place.
A buddy of mine had a 17' checkmate open bow with a 150 outboard..... it was a very scary ride on a weekend up at the chain. Once there was any sort of chop we had to get off the water.

weekdays you'd be fine

weekends you'd not have fun with something like that on the chain

this is a nice boat that if it's clean and well maintained i wouldn't be shy about telling you to check out.

https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/b...663449828.html

also likely one of the smallest boats id do weekend things on the chain on.

but additionally, something like this, is likely going to be worth 10-13k for the next 3-5 years still even.

Def like the first one you posted. So the one I posted was a 17' and yours is a 19'? correct? The size comparison looks dramatic so I see what your saying

The Astro you psoted was more of a deck boat, stay away as the ride it terrible unless water is glass all the time. The Crownline that @Yaj Yak posted in a v-hall and Crownline is a very well made boat, the hull will handle the chop alot better.

That's what I was asking. Sorry, I don't know the lingo to explain it. Basically, I wanted to know the differences between the Astro and Crownline boat. Which you explained.

Small block enough power? At what size boat should you be considering a big block? Hows the fuel consumption between big block vs small block?

Its never "enough" power but again what do you wanna do with the boat? The small block is going to be plenty with a 19' boat that probably weighs around 3klbs. You wont have an issue pulling a tubers. unless its an outboard there is not such thing as good fuel consumption.

Wow, there are so many brands of boats we would set the record for longest thread if we tried going down that road. First thing you have to figure out is what kind of boat you want. cuddy cabin, crusier, open bow, go fast..... So you seem to have liked the Crownline, which is a open bow power boat v-hull. So, in that type of boat I (me personally) would start looking at Formula, Crownline, Regal, Glastron, Chaperall, Rinker, Four winns and that is just to name a few.

Get something with a name it will hold its value a lot better, if you get something with a deep v the full length it will tend to be slower but ride well enough you can get away with a smaller boat, I can run with much bigger boats in my little 18 but it has dat v and I have trim tabs on it to help keep the bow down when it’s rough

Clinton was rough this weekend i actually like running in that but my wife doesn’t, when she got off to get the trailer me and the kids went out ripping for 10 minutes or so, my daughter is fearless when it comes to go fast stuff, she’s standing infront of the passenger seat holding the handle as we hunt down some big wakes to jump yelling at me to go faster

Went to the sandbar on Sat, havenít been there in 2 yes. Surprisingly no drama, tied up to a cool group of boaters out of Milwaukee. Tried to go to Captains for the bikini contest but not a single parking spot for boats. Ended up at Blarnys as that what the majority of the boat wanted, damn I hate that place!!! Sunday anchored out a Pistakee Bay for a few hrs. Saw @Yaj Yak was missing from his slip so he was out causing trouble on Sunday somewhere.

fwiw... my formula is a small block.

with big blocks comes a good amount more weight, and thirstier in a lot of situations.

my 6.2 in my boat (non LS based) i can run just about 49/50 and 496/8.1 liter boats are said to run 52-53 maybe 54.

my buddy is getting a two year newer version of my boat with a 496 so we'll line em up and ill report back.

i get really satisfying MPG though... like 2-3 from what ive figured out. which on a boat around my size isn't too common.

Saturday took the PQ up to Port of Blarney for breakfast. I was though the locks before 9AM. First solo trip through the locks. Weird not being with other boats. Breakfast was decent. Went to see if Eagle was out then a quick rip around Pistakee then back to the lower. I got home around noon just before all the crazies come out. It was a nice morning trip. Sunday pulled the toon out for some repairs then dicked around with some bros on the lower. Dinner at no wake.
