Hi every one I have a question I was slowly taking off from a red light and my 2003 cobra popped out of first gear . Do you think it could have hurt the transmission.Can someone please respond as soon as possible thank you Ron.

That probably did not hurt the trans.

...but the question is, why did it do it?

I agree that it did not hurt the trans because im assuming that it just popped out and went into neutral. I have had a few cars myself that did that once in a while...in my opinion i think that i just did not have 1st gear fully engaged....if it starts to happen more frequently then you should worry but as for now i wouldnt let it bother you

Probably due to either the shifter adjustment, or the detent in the 1-2 synchro. How is second gear? Did you install a new shifter recently?

the shifter that came on my car when i bought it would pop outa 2nd all the time and when i get a new one never had that prob again.

not to scare you, but mine did that a few times ron before the input shaft broke...

Mine did i once before on a launch from like 5k, but has not done it any other time
