Aren't valve adjustments only required on cars that use a timing belt (like a '99 Cobra).
Since the 03 and 04 Cobra's use a chain, there is no stretch or fatigue that you get with a belt, so no need to adjust the valves.

At least that's what I thought.

A valve adjustment is meant to put the space between the valve stem and the cam follower [rocker arm] in spec. Most engines have a hydraulic way of taking up the lash by using the oil pressure and a hydraulic lifter. With solid lifters, you either need to shim the lash adjuster, put a lash cap on the valve stem, or use some sort of adjustable rocker. It doesn't have anything to do with the timing of the valvetrain.
