GSS340 and GSS342 have the same flow rate correct? the 342 is just for the 96-97 cobras where the 340 isn't?

A GSS340 will support allot more horsepower then the 342 will. Both are rated at 255lph but the 340 is rated at that flow but at a higher pressure than the 342. That means that when they are flow tested at the same pressure the 340 will easily walk away from the 342. The GSS340's will support about 500rwhp whereas the 342 will support about 350-400rwhp.

from what i remember (and i could be mistaken), the GSS340 and 342 flow exactly the same.. the difference being that one is a return style pump (340) and the other is designed for returnless fuel systems (342)... the 307 and 317 are the lower HP pumps..

The 342 is a return pump also. It is not meant for use in a PWM returnless fuel system. People have tried to use the return pumps like the 342 and also the 340's only to have them fail after moderate use.

I did mess one thing up though. I was thinking of the 307 not the 342. Bob, you are correct that the 342 and 340 are flow tested at the same psi. The 340 does have one hell of allot larger a fuel pickup than the 342 does. I have not tested the two back to back but I would be willing to bet that the 340 would outflow the 342 in the end.
