03 Cobra / Correct Shift Points???

Does anyone know what that the approx. correct shift points are for the 03 cobra? My shift light basically tells me to shift all the time. If I followed it, I would be in sixth gear at 35-40mph. I am just wondering approx what rpm I should shift at for normal cruising (best mpg). Thanks

For best MPG, shift when the shift light tells you too.

I usually shift before 3k when driving normal on the street.

I usually shift at around 1500 rpm when just cruising.

That seems to be right around 40 mph in 6th.

wow....maybe my shift light is working correctly. 1500 rpms, I will have to try that. Just seems to me that I was making the bottom end of the motor work to hard. Will give it a shot and see how the car feels. Thanks.

Did you ever figure out that ticking noise?

I called ford svt and found out my car is number 278 of 5,xxx. So it is an early production car. They said there is a tsb (service bulletin) about this problem but no recall, so I would have to pay for it. He also said most of the time the tick does not materialize into anything else. So I guess, I am just playing it by ear. You think this is ok??? Thanks

shift light pops up right before 2k rpm and i shift always there and i am in 6th gear between 40-45mph. less rpm = better gas mileage (correct me if i am wrong)

I know what you mean about the shift points. Its gets annoying going through 6 gears every time i stop at a light and the speed limit is 45mph on my way to work in the morning. Especially after going to the gym. If you want to be lazy go 2-4-6 shifting at 2,250. If not, you'll be shifting at right about 1,700 every time. That arrow will be yelling at you if you aren't in 6th at 45mph or higher. Just don't boost it and you won't be noticing much of a change in gas mileage. You should have a honda if that is one of your conerns anyways...ha.
