I have been trying to figure out for sometime now why I was having issues with holding boost..I would floor it nail 16lbs or so and it would creep down to 14 1/2 ish Well I figured it out and it was because the K&N filter was....saying it was dirty wouldnt even describe how bad it was....I run the KB fenderwell set up and it would appear Im going to have recharge alot more I knew going to the fenderwell setup would mean picking up alot more dirt and shit but geezzz I wish I would have taken a picture I went out today and played around for awhile and even with it being as hot as it is I stayed at 16lbs all the way it felt like a new car:headbang:

WOW! That's a lot of miles for a normal everyday car let alone a high boost cobra

I've had a couple problems with those oil bath filters normaly K&N's. Most people spray WAY too much oil on them and it clogs up the MAF...

yeah, usually a day or two after cleaning and recharging my air filter i will do a cleaning on my MAF just because there is almost no way to not clog that thing up a little bit. best bet is to do a quick clean on that sucker after a recharge on the air filter

It may be best just to by a new one, once a year at $50 a shot isn't too bad. My JLT CAI down there got pretty nasty too.

I normally suggest customers to buy an extra filter to keep clean for a swap.

how much does an extra k&n fipk filter cost? mines pretty filthy, i havent cleaned it in about 15k.

I knew the fender well setup would in turn mean picking up more crap but not as much as I saw......I got caught out a few times in the rain and I think that attributed to it.....Im going to buy another filter replacement. I figure $50 for a filter is a whole lot better than sucking shit into my engine and blowing the thing up

I cleaned mine last May so I guess it's probably due for another cleaning.

They're easy to clean, but you should do it when you know you won't need the car for a while. The filter needs to dry and then you have to oil it.

That's another good point about the in engine compartment filters. You see them every time you open the hood.

With the fenderwell filters, you may want to mark a calendar or make a note of when to check it. I'd suggest every 3 months or so and no more than 6 months between checks.
