MGW shifter

Well, my new shifter arrived. After reading the instruction manuel, I noticed countless warnings about shift stops. The guide even goes on to say that Tremec doesn't recommend installing the stops; due to the fact the T-56 has internal stops in place. I'm sure many of you are aware of this, and I was hoping some of you guys could point me in the right direction. Install them or not? I want my transmission to last as long as possible. So what do you guys suggest? Thanks.

If you install the shifter correctly then you shouldn't have a problem. When I did mine, I put the car in every gear, as far as it would go. Tightened down the stops, then backed them off one full turn. No problems to date.

I have the MGW shifter and just backed the stops off... I don't have any issues shifting.

I followed the instructions and did not install them.... no problems in 2 years.

The stops on the T56 will do the job so you don't need the stops on the shifter. You can install them if you want but they won't give you any more protection than the internal stops do. I left mine off.

Sounds like both ways are working. Thanks for the info guys...I am probally going to leave them off since this will be my first shifter install and they are not absolutly needed. Thanks again. I'll let you guys know how I like the new piece once I get it in.

Its in!!!!

Today I installed the shifter, and man was that thing a good buy! Sooooooooooooo much better than the stock one. Was really easy to do as well; stock shifter practically fell off once I took out the 4 13mm bolts. Took it for a test drive and everything seemed ok. Thanks again guys for the input. Next is the IRS brace!

Same here. Installed mine without and it works fine.

They eliminated the shifter with two different handles - just one handle now and it's orange.

the brace in my opinion does little to nothing. Don't know if it's worth getting, I replaced it along with bushings and I don't notice a difference at all! Just buy slicks save your cash

The IRS brace from BilletFlow is important for keeping the differential cover in one piece. I blew a hole in my cover years ago, put Doug's brace on and haven't had a repeat.

It is an awesome shifter you will love it. I just left the stops in but backed them out to where I liked it. No problems and I love it.

It's MJ's brace, not Doug's brace. Maybe he may make it for MJ, and the copy cat RIPOFF is from Steeda who stole the idea and is producing something similar.
