I was swapping some tires/wheels around and decided to weigh them

not what I expected.

here are the results:

17x9 stock rims with 275/40/17 BFG KDW (almost new)= 57.5lbs

18x9 AFS rims with 275/35/18 BFG KDW2 (new) = 54.0lbs

18x10.5 AFs rims with 315/35/18 BFG drag radials 2/3 left = 57.0lbs

So are AFS rims a high performance rim or a cheap, unsafe chineese knock-off?

I believe the stock Ford rims are cheap chinese knock-offs, but not unsafe. Same with the AFS rims.
Isnt the 1/4 mi. problem some have with 18s contributed to the sidewall being so small, not the weight? The 17s and the 18s are the same OAD.

Yeppers. My 315 18" BFG drag raidals on chrome 18x10's are really great at high speeds and in turns because of the lower sidewall but they suck for the 1/4". However my 275 17" Mickey Thompson's on chrome 17x9's hook at the track but suck at high speed and in corners.

My FR500's & 10th Anniv were made in the USA. Not sure of Country of Origin on my other 03/04's, but I assume USA or Mexico.
