I recently replaced my K+N FIPK filter with the S and B 10" filter. Larry [GNXS] suggested it and I like the way it is an inch bigger than the K+N and the front is open with filter material as well so if I remove the headlight, I'll get direct airflow through the front of the filter as well as the sides.

I think you mean S & B filter... I put mine on a few weeks ago cause my K & N looked like shit... Dumb canadians took like 3 weeks to get it to me, but it fit great and looks nice. :D

S+N? Don't know why I was thinking that. S and B it is. Took them about a week to ship mine.

Hey Cliff, you should dyno with that airfilter with the headlight in, and out. K&N has information on open-ended filters like yours:

But I would really be interested in the dyno results of your K&N vs. the S&B. I would switch if it improves.
Yea, yea, yea.....and KB's website explains why their blower is so much better than their competition too. :bash: Don't believe everything you read about somebody's product from their competition.

I went 11.05 @130 with this filter, it must not suck too bad. :dunno:

I just placed my order for one.

They aren't the quickest company on the planet. It'll probably be a couple weeks until you get the filter. It's worth the wait. Take the FIPK assembly off at the lower clamp just past the MAF for an easy install. Install the filter on the FIPK and then put the filter and FIPK back on as one piece.

Actually that junk I posted on K&N is about filters for carburated type applications - the round circle filters.

I was flipping through a magazine and they were installing an open-ended filter like the S+B. They mentioned the Venturi effect. Turns out this Venturi effect INCREASES air velocity and it is an advantage. So anyone that needs to replace their K&N FIPK should get the S+B ... not only is it better, but it's cheaper!
