Cat Back and CAI - Risk of Detonation?

I've been reading around that you risk detonation with this setup because of very lean AF. Is this true? I have no idea what to tell the Dyno guy so he does not rip me off. I don't even know if I need a dyno. I'm still very new at this. I've been reading on forums for a good 4 hours now, i need another shot. :alcoholic :alcoholic

No, not true as far as I know. These stories are recent and the cars have been out for nearly 2 years before the stories started with nobody having any lean problems. In the one or two instances of cars supposedly being lean, I bet there are other factors involved if the stories are even factual [It's the internet...]. The cars are so pig rich from the factory that a little leaning is a good thing. If you are worried about it, get the car dyno'd and pay $75 for peace of mind. Tell the dyno guy you want to get the Air/Fuel ratios to see where your A/F is.

Edit-There WERE some stories about a year ago about the Dense Charger CAIs leaning out the A/F but Dense Charger changed their product since then.

get a baseline dyno pull before you install any modifications.

then, you can quantify what you've done as far as power-per-dollar goes.
