JBA Shorties

Anyone have any experience with the JBA shortie headers for the 03-04 Cobras?

And before you say anything Hank, I am trying to avoid LT's so I can keep my MRT H pipe, and have no ground clearance issues. Not to mention, shorties are cheaper and reportedly easier to install.


Not sure if they are worth it, but they gotta be better than the stock manifolds.

Thats a flat out LIE!!!!

Its rediculously hard to put in ANY type of header on these cars. But they are worth it :headbang: :burnout:

I am sure any header install is a PITA, but I have heard more than once that shorties are easier than longtubes. Since I probably won't be installing myself anyways (doubt it is doable on rhino ramps), it doesn't really matter.

There is NO such thing as an easier install and the word header (of ANY type) in the same sentence. Not from a backyard mechanic's point of view anyway.

I would like to know about these also. I am happy with my exhaust set up (Maggie HF cats X and cat back) and would like some headers that are easier to install than long tubes.

Anybody got them???

After asking around, I found that they are NO easier to install than the long tubes.

But they still have the benefits of keeping your current mid-pipe and don't have the the ground clearance issues.

Never did get a good answer on whether they are worth it or not ( in terms of power increase ).

Simple not worth it unless you plan on a bigger blower and more boost. You will LOSE TQ period.

I have heard that the JBA's exhibit some problems with the welds after awhile (cracking). But I don't have first hand experience with that.

I got JBA shorties for my lightning. All well for past 2 years.

Go with the bassani mid lengths...wont have to worry about the clearence issue at all...took me 20 hours to install...with the car on ramps and not dropping the k member...that install was total backyard mechanic style...had to run to sears 4 times for tools.
