I've got a nice, silver Trans Am I can sell you. Low miles. Never raced. Needs one or two inexpensive parts to get back on the road.

Since I know you, I'll let it go for 4200? Title in hand.

So took the car over to BULL VALLEY FORD.... fine folks that they are... and here's what they said about the band of rust on the rotor.

#1. Warranty does not cover rust, no way no how.
#2. Brembo brakes "aren't warrantied by Ford as Ford doesn't make them"
#3. Getting replacement pads is going to take a lot of work and be a lot of hoops to jump through.
#4. Their proposed fix is to take a whizzer wheel to the rotor to clean the rust, and reinstall the existing pads back on the car to "eventually wear back" to the new pattern.

Can this be for real? Am I just dealing with the wrong service dept? Will I have better luck going elsewhere? If the guys at BVF just don't want to service the car... or more importantly don't know HOW to... I'm better off going elsewhere anyhow.

What say you, TCG?

Have them swap out those Brembos for a Wilwood 6 piston setup.

Sounds like they think you are stupid, and don't understand that rotors rust.

Sounds like they think you are stupid, or don't understand that they are OEM brakes.

I suspect this will be the case for any dealer you bring the car to. I can't imagine THAT much brake life has been compromised, and it's a 'wear' item, which of course they don't want to warranty.

That's some bullshit. I haven't heard of that Brembo issue where it's not part of the warranty.

Warranty for rust is body only I believe. So they may be legit there. The part where they can not get pads for that brake set up has to be BS. It is a production part. Call the service department and schedule a brake rotor and pad replacement and see what they say if your flipping the bill. haha

Thats kinda my point. I KNOW they can get pads for it, they're just playing dumb (like they've done several times already) as if they cant get the pads and hoping I'll go away.

I would drive that fucking car right through the front showroom window, roll down the window, and say "Ooops, my bad!"

You are far away, but I've always had great luck with Willowbrook Ford. Also, Sutton Ford has helped me out in the past with getting FRPP parts warrantied but they are a hike from Woodstock.

Is this the dealership that you bought it from?

I thought there was something about dealership being liable for warranty work within the first 30 or so days after the sale of a warrantied, used car. I came across this situation with my g6 when I bought it and brought it right back in for warranty work. They didn't want to do anything b/c they were liable for 30 days after purchase for warranty work. It's probably Ford's (and other car manufacturers) way of protecting themselves from dealers just turning/certifying cars with warranty work needing to be done.

Maybe they are trying to keep from doing any work if they are within a time frame like that.

I'd say try another dealership.
