Default ford recalls ONE MILLION vehicles

Ford Recalls More Than 1 Million Cars | NBC Chicago

Quote:
Ford is recalling more than 1 million cars in North America due to problems that could result in the loss of electric power steering assist while driving, making it harder to turn the vehicle, NBC News reported. Six injuries and five crashes related to the issue have been reported to U.S. regulators. The models affected are Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner vehicles with model years 2008 to 2011 and Ford Explorers with model years 2011 to 2013.

As cool as the electronic steering assist is, I was waiting for the first break down of them. Here they are.

Ford's crappy quality that started about three years ago continues and is exacerbated by 14.00hr. no benefits, no give a shit workers.

I was just saying its on mainly family vehicles too, and that makes it even more important for the recall to happen.

Taurus too. The escape is a big POS, and the explorer isn't far behind. Shows the direction of the way forward.

We had an 09 explorer we bought new, and it was a shit box. The only cool thing about it was the 4x4 in the snow. That suv was unstoppable in deep snow. But otherwise it was clunky driving and slow as piss with the V6. Would not buy again.

I still see newish ram trucks with rusty bumpers and paint flaking off their tailgates. Im talking 2009+ trucks with the new body styles. They are almost as bad as the rotting H2 hummers out there.

This is pretty normal for the H2. Plus I think what makes it worse is that the truck sits so high and its easy to see it all. But its pretty common getting tons of rust on the underside/frame.

That's what union labor does to the workforce. What incentive do you have to go the extra mile?

The generation you had was actually better than the mini van they hawk as an explorer now (and we all know Ford has never built a half way decent mini van)..... except for the horrible mpg of your generation. I can't believe they continue to sell about 20k explorers a month. Wtf.

The incentive before was an instant middle class 60k a year non college educated low skilled line worker...... that incentive no longer exists. There isn't an extra mile to go on the line, just do your job. The second tier, non legacy employees have no incentive to even want to see the company itself survive.

There never was an incentive to do a better job and the skillset is the same today as it was 10 years ago. As you mentioned, these are low skilled workers not engineering PHD's.

The unions suppressed that with their archaic work rules and brought the whole industry to their knees. My dad has 40 years of stories that he could tell about union work rules that hurt the Big 3. His equipment is still probably in the Explorer line discussed above.

Off topic, but I'd venture lower cost parts and overall cost cutting are more to blame for quality issues than the workforce.
