Priming oiling system

Hey guys, looking for a little help on the proper way to prime the oiling system on my 2004 cobra engine. It has been sitting for a little over 2 years now with no starts, and am about done with my project and getting read to turn it over for the first time

Horrible advice!

Either modify a garden sprayer (check modfords or youtube) or just start the car.

a mechanic told me to do this too... but if you know something then please let me know,
and the way my setup is, i can leave my whole fuel, and electrical system shut off so that it is not on, nor starts

A mod motor oil pump can't make oil pressure fast enough with just cranking speed..
years ago I tried that method and it took over 70 seconds of on and off cranking to build pressure. The starter sounded miserable afterward,

well thats good to know on the mod motors thanks. Good thing I never did it. I always just start mine up.

We found an article in a Hot Rod magazine that shows you how to pre-oil any motor, and a mod motor is no different. To do accomplish this, buy an oil pump of your choosing (Must have pick-up and be shaft driven). Mount the pump and pick-up to lid of a bucket. Run a line from the pressure side of the oil pump to your oil pressure sending unit on your block. Fill the bucket with oil, and use a drill to run the pump.

This will pressurize your oil system all the way through your engine. When you're finished, disconnect the pump from your block, and reinstall your oil pressure sending unit.

We used this process very successfully on 3-valve engine.
