th400 guys inside please!

ok so i am in the middle of putting a th400 behind my 2004 cobra engine and had a question. It comes with a spacer, and i was wondering if the spacer was supposed to go on the snout of the torque converter? not really clear on what your supposed to do in the instructions.

ok, thats what i thought, and before you answered i kinda answered my own question when i figured out that im not getting my converter seated all the way.

Tried standing the trans up on the tail shaft and pushing/tweaking/spinning the converter around but it will not go on any further.
I know it needs to go further because its nearly flush with the bellhousing

It was built by a guy in Indiana from what I remember it has upgraded bands reverse manual valve body with a brake and a few other things
