17" x 10.5" Wheel fitment issues

Anybody had issues mounting 17" x 10.5" wheels on their Cobra?

Yes, I do have the low profile IRS bolts.


Seems like the tire is bumping up against the IRS bolt, or the bracket itself.

Cannot even get to that point because the wheel was rubbing so much the hub was not flush to tighten the lugs.

Sounds like they are definetely the wrong backspacing

Like Derek said, I could not get the wheel flush with the hub to tighten the lugs.

Sounds like they are definetely the wrong backspacing

Back Spacing: 6.8" (173mm)
Offset: +27mm (1.10")

I run 5/16s spacers on mine and have no problem with stock bolts.... They are also from AM.

thats the right backspacing for that wheel, 22mm offset would work better on your car but Im not sure they make an 03 wheel with that offset.

Most replica 10.5 wheels(bullitt,FR500,saleens) have 22mm offset, you are gonna have to run a small spacer.

Dave look at the back of the wheel inside and see what the offset says on them. But may just need a small spacer like others advised.

I have the same wheels, i had to use 1/4" spacers. American Muscle has them for $14.99 for the pair and free shipping. I used the stock bolts no problem. I found out the hard way like you did. Best of luck.

When i had my 10.5s with my IRS with Nitto 315's, i'll i did was shave the rear bolts and have no issue's on steeda sport springs. What tires are you running in back?

Thats weird, maybe the TQ's have a wider tire width at the sidewall causing the issue. Mine sat very close when the suspension was unloaded, but was fine as soon as the car started coming down.

I hear a lot of people get 10.5s on with low profile bolts, and no spacers, but apparently it does not look like that will be the case for me.

you could just jack by the rear lower control arms to get the wheels on for now and see how much travel room you have once the suspension would be loaded.
