This is for everyone.
All Fords - FOREVER - Here's how the cylinders are numbered and why.
Imagine you are sitting in a normal RWD car, behind the steering wheel. Your left is Ford's left, your right is Ford's right.
The front right cylinder is always #1. If it is a V6, a V8, a V10, or a V 164, etc. The right front cylinder is ALWAYS #1.
So, now that we know where #1 is, the next cylinder on the right side is #2, then #3, etc. When you are out of cylinders on the right side, then go back up to the front of the LEFT side and continue counting until you get to the back of that cylinder bank.
So, a traditional Ford RWD V8 will look like this -
- Radiator -
5 1
6 2
7 3
8 4

Here's where the fun starts - Front Wheel Drive
Turn the engine a quarter turn, but the naming stays the same as a traditional RWD car.
SO, a FWD V6 car with the crank pulley on the passenger's side would look like this -
Radiator
6, 5, 4
3, 2, 1

Clear as mud?
