3.10 pulley, no maney and playin it safe

I have done every other bolt-on except for a pulley, now its time for your thoughts, if i get a 3.10 pulley what are the performance gains i should expect to notice? And i want to have the car tuned because it has a JLT ram air, and an x pipe, and i want to achieve the most bang for the buck out of the mods i have, i live near ohare, does anyone know of a good tuning shop that is somewhat close? i have thought about speed inc, what are your thoughts

If you are already going to tune it after the pulley don't waste your time with a 3.10. Either get a 2.90 or a 2.75, both are plenty safe, wont overheat anything and are as common as apple pie.

Near Ohare... I would say Speed Inc or Bob Kurgan.

maybe 15HP gain with upgrading to that over stock. You will only be making a couple more pounds of boost. If you want to wait a month till I put my 2.93 on ill sell you my 3.10 cheap.

Go 2.93 or 2.76 with a 4lb lower and enjoy your new car. I say that because it will feel like one.

No reason not too.

If you put a 3.1 on you will end up putting a 2.8 or 2.76 on anyway might as well do it now and save money on multiple tunes

I agree with going to a smaller upper, but would stay short of adding a lower at the same time.

You will definitely need a tune once adding a pulley... you might even need one right now. A handheld SCT tuner with a tune from Kurgan or Speed Inc is your best bet.

If you add the 3.10 without a tune, you won't get the bang for the buck a tune adds. Plus you run the risk of getting the wrong kind of bang. May as well pick a 2.93 or 2.76 with or without lower, tune and be done for a while.

For someone who is considering a 3.10 upper because he "has no money and is playing it safe" there is no reason for anyone to suggest he add a lower at this time.

I live near Ohare too and took my car to Bobs shop. It's a nice ride out there, and a great road to "stretch" out the legs on your car before the tune and pulley swap and then see the diffrence coming back home! If money is tight, do yourself a favor, get a 2.93 or 2.76 upper and tune. You'll wish you did if you only put on a 3.10. And then, you'll be spending more money down the road.

Good choice, however BOB is not going to have his shop here next season. Not that he can't help, but...
