Default TH400, Gear Vendors, Cobra

I have to start planning ahead if I decide to ditch the T-56. Im not gonna even try and make a 4r70W work for the power its gonna make...gotta go big.

Question is, has anyone fit a Gear Vendors under/overdrive unit in their Cobra without having to hack up the floor?
If you can provide links/pics that would be great!
Thanks in advance.

I've read about these overdrive gear boxes a few years back. Good question. I guess you could ask any one that may have a TH400 in any Mustang from 99-04 regardless of type. I here you can pick these up off of Ebay from time to time really cheap compared to what they want for them new.

i havent seen a single Cobra with a GV yet......because I really thought about this as well when I had the Cobra..

It may not be needed honestly, with the correct torque converter, tire, and gear combo....
Last year I could cruise my Cobra at 55-60 with my TH400 on 28" tires and 3.73's, and my converter stalled crazy high - I'd but that thing on the transbrake at like 6300 RPM and could still drive 60mph

With 3.27's or 3.55's for a turbo combo, 28" tires, and a good converter, the GV wouldn't really be necessary unless you need to be able to drive like 80

The converter is everything.

just my .02

although from what I've seen on the GV pieces, since they attach at the tailshaft, it may be a challenge to fit in the stock tunnel if you are determined to try

you will be fine with the manual vb t400, gear vendors will just complicate things. Get a good coverter and you will be ok

Thanks for the info guys but when I say 'Im gonna drive the car' I mean hop it and not hesitate to take a 12 hour road trip in it.

I dont build cars that are limited to 'local travel only'

if it's not a track car and you're going to be keeping the IRS i'd keep a t56 in the car, just get it built stronger when it blows. d&d...liberty...not sure who's the best but that's just my opinion.
