well got some more work done! the fluidyne aftercooler (for the most part) is finished mounted! had to make my own bracket for the unit since the original was destroyed in the accident, and there was no real way to use it on the project, Ended up using all scrap from my Kirkie race seat bracket kits, so that was nice that i didnt have to buy anything new, Then i had to notch the hell out of the front bumper, needs a little touch up, but over all its looking pretty decent i would say im happy with how its turning out

Are you keeping track of how much everything has cost so you'll see what the complete investment was?

I have done that with my 91 and after adding it up I was like this and I'm not even close to where I want the car to ulitimately be, but I'm keeping it forever so I got some time.

got more work done.... Been welding up the torque boxes, and doing a little seem welding on the body for a little extra strength
also got the rearend dropped out so i can update the suspension, change the gear, and put some c-clip eliminator axles on this puppy

also decided to update the crappy bushings in the upper ears of the rearend housing, had to burn, cut, and hammer these guys out (very long process)

also got my trans cooler in! still missing the trans tho
mounted it behind the driver side lights, behind the fender (remote mounted cooler)

well i decided to take the time and brace the hell out of the rearend so it did not move or bend at all... (hopefully)
this is what i came up with, just another excuss to use my welder

And then some pics of underneath were the rearend goes with the lower control arm boxs welded up, and painted with POR15, still need to do a little more painting and cleaning up, but you get the idea

i hate being an asshole but you really need to stop the experimental welding on your car for your own safety. I know you are just learning but a car you will be driving at the track is nothing to practice on. Your welder is no where near powerful enough to be welding on that rear end.....have someone who can weld and has a powerful welder help you out. The last thing you want is the welds failing on you.

Not to mention, welding steel to cast is a process in its own. Have to pre-heat the cast and use the right wire.

just cut off that bracing honestly, id bet there is no penetration in the welds at all, you could take a hammer to it and knock those tubes off.... especially the upper left hand side tube by the yolk......good welding isnt something you learn overnight believe me I just started last year and am just getting the hang of it, dont give up just dont practice on your car!
