My 97 was lowered nearly 2 inches by the previous owner and he did not use any cc plates. When I bought the car, the tires were bald, but were more or less perfectly worn. I bought new tires, put about 10k on them, and they look perfect so far too. I just bought another set of wheels and tires, and I'm gonna keep a close eye on them to watch for uneven wear. The new Nitto NT05s werent cheap, so I don't want to screw them up.

So, long story short, if you notice any uneven wear, get the plates. I'd get it aligned right away though.

And for the clunking noise, have you use the isos on the springs? If not, that could be the cause.
