Need some electrical help

For all you electrical guys....

I need to locate on my 04 cobras radio the 12v power wire that turns on when you turn on radio. I need to tap in this wire to set up my new antenna that mounts to the windshield. I deleted the antenna from the fender, and I bought the one that mounts in your headliner, but I need a 12v power source.

I might stop there today, I been trying to get crook to figure out what wire he tapped in on Parkers car. He said its in the radio its 12v. I dont wanna take it to Accutek and they end up charging me like $75 for simple information if you know what I mean.

Just do a add a fuse to the fusebox for the one that controls the radio, it's what I did for my radar, turns on/off with key.

Yes, it would be...

- you can pull the driver door sill and a pillar off
- fish a wire down near the side of the dashboard cluster to get to fuse box.
- Up top where the pillar was, you can the run the wire throught the headliner.

Thanks bro, but I cant really make too much sense of this. Is this the back of the radio, or the fuse panel?

wires to the back so look all the way up top left. you want to find the black and pink wire. that is hot when car is running.

I used the add a fuse, and finally got it all done. Not what I expected, the static is still there sometimes just like before, Ill have to try a different antenna......

Its not the radio, its the antenna, its one of those wire antennas, that gets routed under the headliner and sits in the windshield or back window. I think its just not getting good signal from inside the car. I need to look into getting a really good one.

But its only gonna get more pricey, this one cost $45. I dont care it was totally worth deleting my mast, I think its so ugly on the fender.........

Oh god, those on glass antenna sucks, when i worked at circuit city, I put 2 in and never again. They work very very lousy. Your better off shoving your old antenna in your headliner.

get your self one of the those trucker antennas and mount it on the trunk lid lmao!!

take your antenna wire and groung it to the car. that way your whole car is the antenna........a thought but i would bet it would work for sure

Ok but what part would I ground to the car? There are only 2 wires, one is the coax that plugs into the back of the radio, and the other is a 12v wire that has have a 12v feed so the antenna turns on.

dont even mess with the 12v thing you have. use the factory coax.........plug it in the back of the radio...take the other end that went to the factory antenna and touch it to bare metal......do this with the radio on....should be staticy then when you touch the unhooked end to a bare metal spot see if the station gets clear....then you know that will work. did i confuse you?

sounds like just a reason to get more money out of people. let me know if the ground thing works.
