6 speed people

Just curious. Does anyone w/ a 6 speed ever use 5th gear?? I barely ever use that gear in day to day driving. i usually just casualy go 1-3, then straight to 6th. Especially w/ the gto gears, 5th gear really only drops the revs like 1k from 4th gear anyways, so its a pretty useless gear most of the time.

6th gear is actually usable in the Z so it really doesnt matter if i'm in 5th or 6th. i skip 5th if i'm on the highway tho but for puttering around town, i almost forget i have a 6th gear (but i still find myself in it when i look down)

the car wont do it, its under a grand at that speed, i can fight it at 45 going down a hill barely, but 50 is about all ill do in 6th

yeah, i pretty much skip 4th and 5th, i keep 3rd until about 45 or so then its straight to 6th. i'll downshift to 4th if i think a lights gonna change or i may need to make a hasty get away, but 5th rarely ever gets used in my car

I have a T-56 don't know how similar the ratios are to the GTO T-56 but I use 5th for below 40mph and 6th for above 40mph. I have a 3.73 gear.

granted i only have a 5 speed, but since my car doesn't have that much torque, so i pretty much have to use all gears. I can sometimes skip 2, but i have to get it up to like 3-4k before it'll actually shift smoothly

Yes. Most of the back roads out by me are listed as 50-55mph and cruising in traffic at 55-60 is a good speed for 5th gear in my car. 6th is almost exclusively for Interstate traveling or when the cornfield roads are wide open for 65 mph cruising.

yea, i dont have enough torque to skip gears... 6th is great on the highway, but 5th is pefect for all th 45 MPH roads...

only a 5-speed for me and i definitely dont have enough torque to skip gears. i was riding with a friend once and he asked why i shifted soo much and that f-bodies can 1-4 shift. i tried for the hell of it.... doesnt work.

but i'm in 5th gear by 40mph...mpg's!

I can be in 5th gear by 35, but sadly no mpg's

I wish, my auto won't even go to 4th until 47 so I am in 3rd all the damn time... I want a 5 and 6th gear!
