How far can you drive before getting an alignment on a new suspension ???

I just got the suspension into the car this weekend and I was going to bring it in to have the alignment done on Monday.

The shop is 8 miles from my house, will I be okay to go that distance, or should I have it towed there ??? I always hear that you need an alignment right away, just seeing how far is too far....

you will be fine.... just dont drive above 45 it will cause alot of wear on the tires

You will be fine. I would drive it around a bit before getting it aligned anyways to let the springs settle. What kind of suspension work did you do?

I put pictures and stuff in the exterior section....

Should I just putz it around the neighborhood to get them to settle ???

How does it drive? Does it pull real hard to one side or the other? If not take it out and cruise it around. Just don't do any high speed stuff. It should be fine.

Theres no way Im not getting it aligned tomorrow... I added CC plates to it so god only knows how off it is.....

i don't understand how people think driving around a little with the alignment off a little is going to affect anything
you should only notice any difference in wear after a few thousand miles, unless its waaayyyyy off

Well with the new CC plates I dont really know how far off it is... just not a good idea to drive with it like that in my opinion.....

What if one side has alot of caster or camber and the other side is the opposite way, im sure it's also not going to give me the full feeling of that suspension I put on there either....

I was just more concerned with making it to the shop or not before I get it up into the higher MPHs again.

I drove mine 4 days before getting it aligned. Probably put like 60 miles on it. You'll be fine.

Trust me, you'll be fine. Just eye ball the tire so it looks straight and then tighten down the CC plates...
Thats what I did when I installed aftermarket suspension and CC plates on my old '98 Cobra...I then drove it to a alignment shop and when they hooked up their laser tool, they didnt even believe me that I eye balled it because it was pretty much already perfect, just needed minor adjusting..

some of us drove 3/4 of the way across the country... of course I was assured it was done properly before I left.
