When vehicles over heat while parked or standing still and then cools down while driving its usually a faulty fan 99.9% of the time. The cooling fan is only a factor when the car is sitting still, as normal
airflow through the radiator cools the engine when the car is moving.

The thermostat is always a suspect. I'd change it as a precautionary
measure:biggthump

Maybe a bad coolant temp sensor

FYI.. the fan has 2 speeds. You need to test and make sure both are working right!

Start at the fan 1st though.

Turn the bike off, and check the blades of the fan spin
freely. Next run the bike until the fan comes on. If the fan does
not come on before the idiot light comes on, your fan is broken.

The cooling is performed through heat transfer
to both the coolant and heat transfer to the oil on most import bikes. Thus, if you are low on oil, the average temperature of the oil will be higher and will increse the temps of the coolant.

Also....if bleeding the air from the system did not work, you may have a
blockage somewhere. Check all hoses and you can also give them a sqweez to help burp the system of air.

NOTE.. Pin-hole leaks or damage to coolant tubes will either
leak coolant, or allow air into the cooling system.

Check the radiator Cap (s) and make sure that they are in good working condtion and dont have weak seals or bad springs.
